Going back home changing my dress to a white shirt, a black skirt, a pair of Jimmy Choo, and a Chanel handbag was part of my plan to got money out of everyone I could just to make more money out of it. Inside my closet, there was my safe box. Inside of it was all the cash that my family has been giving to me since I was little, all converted to dollar and euro bills because I'm not an idiot. There was also some building contracts and my most valuable jewels, the ones that people would kill for. I took my check talon and put it in the bag. The cash was only for a crisis emergency, but the bank money is exactly for investments, like college or starting a business.
@Trishia_Wong: Your brother will be in the La French Restaurant at 5 pm sharp. Table for two in his name.
I manage to leave the house with no one noticing me or at least pretending not to. I put my Vogue eyewear shades on and got a cab and asked the driver to lead me to the restaurant. It, surprisingly, didn't take too long to arrives and charge me almost 20 dollars. The place looks pretty famous since it has a long waiting row. I ignored all the people swearing to me when I just walked to the main entrance.
"Excuse me," I said to the receptionist that ignored me. "I had a reservation."
"Miss, I'm sure you do, just like all the other people in this row." She gave me a fake smile, I took my glasses off in disbelief. "Please go to the end of the line, before I call the security."
"I think you should call them, and your manager." I smiled seeing the small commotion out of nothing was getting started.
"Is something happening here..." The chubby and small Mr. Duval gone pale when he saw me. "Miss Koh, I believe that you're here for the reservation your brother assistant made, am I right?"
"You are Mr. Duval." I smiled at him when he gave a small kiss in my hand. "Is lovely to see you tonight."
"Is my pleasure seeing you Miss Koh, ever since your brother brought the restaurant we are having more and more refined clients." He offered me his arm for me to take. "Your brother is already waiting for you, let me guide you personally."
"Merci beaucoup, Monsieur Duval." I take his arm with a slight smile and turned myself to the receptionist. "I don't want to see your face anymore so you better know how to clean a toilet or else you're fired."
"Monsieur Duval, thanks for sorting my sister." Victor smiled when I got my seat.
"It's my honor, Mr. Koh. Please enjoy your night." The old man said taking his leave.
"You're about five minutes late, I'm still in working hours do you know that?" Victor said taking the champagne glass.
"I know, but I need some word with my brother." I drink my apple juice. "Words alone that can't be exchanged at home."
"I want a special beef and your best wine," Victor said to the waiter.
"Ceaser salad and smoked salmon," I said seeing the young boy go away. "I'll say my theory and you say which part of it it's true or not. Assuming that you know anything, of course."
"Little sister you're starting to freak me out." He lowered his tone.
"Did dad got me in another arranged marriage?" I asked in Mandarin, the fewer people earning this, the better. "During the New Year I discovered that Jason's mom is dad's lawyer, I recognized her by the jury sections of my mother's divorce. When I got into Jason's house not only the entire building had your design, but his apartment was entirely designed by me, for that 'random' Korean family was talking about was them. And that was about two years ago." He was in dead silence. "His mother didn't seem surprised to see me in her family dinner and didn't even offer me nothing to 'release' her son. She was acting like a mother in law. And that was when I realized that our father never mistreated Jason in any way and let him stay away too much in our house. I and Jason guessed that both dad and his mother played us by fools expecting us to like each other and not rebel against it."
"I realized that a few days before your birthday. At first, I only thought that he was letting you have friends, like a normal person. But then I realized he treated Jason away too good, so I made some research in Jason's family and I discovered that his family is far richer than I thought." That I already guessed. "Us moving to New York it's not only about the Koh Constructions it's mostly about your marriage. Dad wants you to work with us but we all know that you don't want that, so I think he plans to marry you before you can have a real career for yourself."
"And he assumes that even if I discover I can't do anything." I blinked my eyes preventing the tears. "When I broke up with Gabriel he got so pissed on losing that special contract that he discounted it all on you, and now you have to work as a slave to him."
"Hey, I do what it takes to help you and Vincent to be at least a little free of him." Victor took my hand on his. "I work with a thing that I like, besides I would do everything again just to see you making your own choices, and Gabriel was a fucking bastard."
"He was, that pervert!" I rolled my eyes trying to wash this strange memory away. "So I'm engaged to Jason, right?"
"I believe you're, I didn't say anything before because you two are such good friends. I didn't want to ruin it." Sometimes my brother was as innocent as a teen watching an Asian drama. "What'll you do now?"
"About the engagement? Nothing." His eyes went big of a surprise. "Both me and Jason had a mutual agreement about it, we'll play their game in this relationship. We're going to pretend that all this thing is played by dynasty or whatever."
"So you're saying that you both will start to date," Victor said in confusion writing all over his face.
"If you put in that way, yes." I simply said looking at my new salad. "We also agreed that they won't have our brains. Which means that we're not working to them." I got all of Victor's attention. "This morning Jason made me a big proposal, not this kind of proposal." I rolled my eyes out. "He convinced me, Ryan and Richie, to sign in his new project. We're going to be founders of a designer clothing brand that Jason is designing."
"Fashion is something you understand." Victor relaxed taking a bite of his beef. "Guess that from family dinner it went to a business meeting, that's why you had me in my working hours. Respect."
"My initial part of the deal I promised to give 2.7 million for the start, and factory and half of the prize for a store and a shopping mall." Now I got his attention again. "I want the recently available building in the Broadway Avenue crosses with the 75 street. You'll need to turn it into a clothes factory/office/store and I'm sure you can do that."
"And you know that I can't simply give it to you," Victor said being fair. "You know that this building used to be the main office of a huge brand, that's why you choose it."
"I'm not here to make any of us lost money. You can rent me the whole place for us for the prize of 3 million per month... Or you can give me in exchange for this." I passed him the paper in my bag. "I'll give the 5th avenue apartment building dad gave to me. As you know each apartment rent costs more the half a million per month, and don't worry I have about 10 more of those."
"A building for another... Seems fair, as you probably know we're opening a new shopping mall so I can get you guys a store in it." He said taking his wallet. "Myself as Victor Koh wants to be a shareholder so here it's 5 million but if I don't have my money back in six months I taking my investment back." He gave me the check.
"As sooner I got the building the sooner we can start making money." I gave him my sly smile taking the cheek.
"I would say it was luck, but knowing you I know it was pure knowledge. So you probably know that the Broadway building used to be a clothes store and is practically ready for use, just need a few adjustments like office stuff, and being in my department, Dad will be almost oblivious about it. You'll probably we had it in two days, but I'll need a meeting tomorrow for documentation proposes." Victor suddenly started to laugh raising his glass. "My dear sister you're a sly fox."
"Learned all from you." I smiled having a toast with him.
