I was sitting in my room, controlling the tremors of the pre-shift. It was a dangerous time to be around anyone. My wolf had way more control on the elements than I did. I heard the howls of the rest of the pack, begging me to join the Run. I knew that was not the best of ideas, but it had been three days since I'd seen Jack and I was tense. I sighed, realizing that I was not getting any homework done this weekend. I was hoping to get some done and then run on my own. I usually tried to stay away from the pack when I was so edgy, but I needed to forget that I was human for a night. I slammed my books closed and stripped down to compression shorts and left the dorms. I made it to the gates just as the pain set in. There was a sudden rush of heat as fur sprouted and claws lengthened. My eyes changed to a deep green. They were the true color of my wolf. If you got close enough, you would see that there was a slight hint of red. It was the alpha part of me. I'm the oldest and the one with the most power, so it automatically makes me alpha. I dropped to all fours and heard the cries of the pack as I joined the mental link. 'Vampire! We get a vamp tonight, boys!' 'WALK AWAY OR ELSE!' The force of the order from an alpha sent three wolves flying through the air and into the tree five feet away. I flashed right into my beta and he collapsed. I grabbed the trunk that was preventing the young vamp from speeding off into the night. She jumped up and coward away from me. My sensitive nose could practically stab through the fear in the air. I backed away and sat down in front of her and showed her that I was just trying to help. She backed away and headed out to the vamp side of the campus. I flashed back into the woods so fast that I almost hit the large oak in front of the gates. I shook out my coat and tried to focus on letting the wolf take over. I got to the forest and caught that girl's scent. I spun on the spot using my tail as a rudder and balanced myself. I took off at a mild pace. I stopped fifty yards from where she stood and watched as she took notice to the fact that I was there. She turned and those blue eyes caught my green and I froze. I sat on my end and watched her and waited. She was obviously doing the same to me. Suddenly, I heard a crack and paws hitting the ground. I nodded towards my back and she shook her head. I nodded harder and she finally heard what I had and climbed on. I flashed out of there and was at the vamp fence in seconds. She leapt off and started climbing. I looked into the yard and saw that there was a vamp waiting. Thanks to my fur, I focused my energy and camouflaged myself. It was a trick all wolves knew hoe to do instinctively. I flashed back to the spot and saw everyone of my packmates sitting there. 'Shift.' Was all I said and they were human again. I was on two before they had a chance to say a word.

"Do you idiots get what could have happened to any wolf if you killed that girl? You're so luck that I came out for the Run. You're even more lucky that my powers aren't developed enough or you'd all be sorry. If I see or hear from anyone, that any of you hunted a vamp or a fae during the Run, I'll kill you myself. Am I Clear?!"

A chorus of "YES SIR!" rang throughout the Orphanage. I sent them back to their dorms with the order that they were to stop the Run for tonight. I looked at Brandon, my beta, and told him that I was leaving campus for a solo run. He nodded and wished me a good night. I let the change come and took off towards Jack's place by the lake. His scent still in my mind and I was at the lake in front of where the scent ended. It was a massive house. All covered in a Western look and gorgeous. I just sat there in my wolf form and silently imagined what it would be like to be in there with him. I heard footsteps from within the house and I held my breath as the curtain on his window moved and revealed a shirtless Jack. I growled when a second set of hands wrapped around him and what was worse is that they belonged to a female. Sorry, woman. Damn wolf, stay out of my thoughts. I must have growled loud enough to attract the attention of Jack. He looked right at me and his eyes went wide. Not that I don't blame him. Mine would have too, if I saw a nine foot tall wolf sitting in my backyard. I spun and was back in my room faster than I thought. I changed and locked my door and cried myself to sleep.
