I found myself in the clearing where I had first met Emily. I had been trying to control whatever it was that was inside of me. The power craves, the insatiable lust for blood and life source, and the constant night terrors. That's when she had appeared, dressed like Mariah and Constance. I was growing angry, because I couldn't channel my powers when I wanted too. They came and went at their own accord, but I wanted to master them in order to protect myself from anyone or anything that would cross my path to do me harm. She approached me as silent as a breeze.
I turned, spotting her. I bared my fangs, suddenly on the defense as I crouched down, my fingertips buried in the dirt ready to pounce. She raises her hands up, showing that she wasn't going to hurt me and I never understood why, but that calmed me down some. I hissed in response. "Reveal yourself," I said. She slowly reached up and brought the hood back. I gaped at her. She didn't look like anyone that I had ever seen before. I glared, my eyes surveying to see if she was hiding some type of weapon up her sleeve. "Who are you?" I didn't stand back up and she stayed where she was.
She took a few steps forward and when she came to stand three feet in front of me, I hissed telling her that that was close enough. She froze and spoke softly, "My name is Emily." She kept her hands up. "I saw you at lunch...sitting alone. I was going to come sit with you, but Mariah wouldn't allow it. She said that our kind shouldn't eat with yours." I growled lowly, my nails digging deeper into the earth.
"I'm aware of how everyone sees me. I'm not like everyone else, and I don't belong to one group. Big whoop. Now leave me be," I said as I stood up, I turned ready to sprint away when she spoke up again.
"It's okay to be different, you know." I froze and slowly turned around to see her. "It's okay to not be like everyone else. If we were all the same then we would just have a world of robots." I chuckled at her comment and walked towards her slowly; my blue eyes never leaving her milky white ones.
"What are you?"
"I could ask you the same thing," she said with a smirk. I retracted my fangs, a smile playing on my lips. She chuckled lightly. "I'm a witch. Daughter of both a witch and an evil dark magician." I nodded my head.
"Impressive." She raised a perfectly sculpted brow.
"You going to tell me what YOU are?" I shook my head.
"Nope," I said, popping the "p" as I turned walking off. She chased after me and grabbed my hand. I turned around, and stared at her.
"Why?"
"Because I don't tell anyone what I am. Keeps the fear alive."
"But I'm not scared of you. I can tell that you're half vampire, but...there's something else that I can't quite put my finger on." I sighed heavily, backing away from her. She sniffed the air. "Not a werewolf...not a fae, not a sprite nor a fairy...clearly you're not a pixie, those bitches are psycho...um...that only leaves a witch." I was taken aback. No one had ever been able to figure out what I was before.
"How did you-"
"I have a keen sense of smell, but you mostly smell like a vampire, not a witch." I nodded my head. "You're scared. I can smell your fear. Is there something the matter?" I rested against a tree, digging my nails into my palm.
"No one has been able to figure it out before. It's different for me." Emily laughed.
"It's okay. I won't tell anyone. I promise." She walked closer to me and sat down by my feet. "In fact, I'd like to help you if you'll let me." I looked down at her, the wind blowing around her raven black hair.
"How could you help me?" She shrugged her shoulders.
"By helping you learn to control your powers. It shouldn't be that hard, and different powers will develop over time. If you can learn how to control the few that you have now, you'll be able to master the other ones fairly quickly later down the line. That is if you want my help." 'Taking help from a witch? Don't be stupid, Alice! She's friends with Mariah, she could just be setting you up for failure.'
