The Villains

Opening up.

I opened my eyes and I felt really cold , my whole body was shivering and I had this terrible headache . I needed something to drink but I couldn't get out of the tent , ugh what should I do now? And worst of all , I lost my voice . I tried to go back to sleep , my whole body was hurting .

' Did Lilia get better ? ' I heared Younis's voice.

' I don't know . ' I heared a girl's voice.

' Go wake her up , its 11 o'clock . ' He said.

A girl came in , looked at me and she saw how miserable I was .

' Damn . I should call Younis . ' She said '

She got out of the tent , told Younis about me . She came back after 15 minutes got me some soup and left.

Seriously ? How am I suposed to eat when my whole body is shivering ? Stupid girl. I tried to eat it but I couldn't.

Younis came in.

' We're getting some stuff after an hour from the city . Food , medicine , blankets and stuff. I'll send you some medicine and extra blankets when they arrive . ' He said.

I wanted to say thank you but I couldn't , because of my voice .

' Don't talk , you're welcome . ' He smiled , and left.

I seriously need to eat the soup , ugh.

' Hey can I come in? ' Muhamad's voice .

I nodded. I was happy , finally someone can help me eat.

' You need more blankets , I'll go and get you two or three. ' He said , and left. 

He came back after few minutes with two blankets and Ahmad.

' Hope you get better. ' Ahmad said , smiling .

I nodded . He should understand that I meant thank you and I bet he did . He left.

Muhamad stayed and he helped me with the soup.

' All this happened because of the walk. Yesterday. ' He said.

And we both laughed .

' Who brought you soup ? ' He asked.

I tried to speak .

' A girl . ' I said .

' Oh you have a terrible voice , don't talk. ' we both laughed.

' She must be Nura. She should've helped you with it . '

I didn't say anything . Thank god she didn't help me because if she did he wouldn't be here now.

' I'll leave now and you , get some rest. And if you need anything ask someone to call me , okay? ' He said , smiling .

I nodded an smiled back , he left .

Thank god that I got sick , I thought .

I fell asleep .

I woke up after hours , I looked outside and everybody was sleeping . I layed down , thinking . My family and how they treated me . I missed my mum and Yousif , but I can't go back now. Not now not later . This is my new life. I kept on thinking until the tears streaked down and I started to cry .

' Are you okay? ' I heared a voice . Muhamad .

I wiped the tears away , looked at him .

' Yeah. What are you doing here ? ' I said.

' I came here to check on you . '

' Oh thanks . I'm fine. ' I said .

' I'll bring some tea . Okay? ' He said , smiling.

' Okay. ' I said.

He came back after few minutes .

' Lets sit outside. ' I said.

' But .. '

' Outside , please . ' I interrupted him.

We sat outside next to eachother drinking tea , without saying a word .

' Your hands are shivering. ' He said. ' Here , take my jacket . '

He gave me his jacket , I wore it and smilied at him.

' Whats wrong , Lilia ? ' 

' Nothing. '

' Lilia , look at me . ' He said .

I looked at him and the tears streaked down my eyes.

' Don't cry , Lil. Talk to me . '

I looked away , crying.

' Why did you run away? ' He asked.

' Becaus of Rami. '

' Why ? '

I showed him my arm and my shoulder. Rami's fingers were printed on them because of the punches and the slaps.

' Oh my .. ' He said .

' Yeah. I got abused everyday . '

' And your mum? ' He asked.

' She got his back , always. She used to hit me too . '

' I'm sorry Lil. '

' Don't be . ' I said.

' Its okay now . You're here , away from them. I'll be with you. '

' Thanks . '

'Lilia . So many tears coming from the girl who gave so many smiles . Stop crying . '

' You didn't walk in my path. I spent days and nights crying and starving myself because of them . Happiness is just an illusion to me . And my father knew nothing . I could do nothing about it , but cry . And when my father died I got really sick of that life so I just ran away and came here. Thank God that I saw you here otherwise I have no idea what would happen to me here . ' I said , crying.

He put his arm around my shoulders and my head was on his shoulder .

' Don't cry Lilia. I wont leave you , I promise . '

I smiled at him . He smiled back and in that moment I knew that I was falling for him .
