Chapter 12

Natalie's POV

Kalin and Jake were gone for about an hour so Myles and I decided to go in the water for a little bit. About 45 minutes later we looked over towards our belongings and saw both of the boys waving their arms to signal us back to the sand. We walked over towards them and they told us they were hungry. "CAN WE GO TO SONIC?" Jake yelled, earning a few stares from people around us. We all agreed and we packed up our stuff and off we went to the car. There was a Sonic not very far from the beach so we went to that one. We ordered our food and Kalin and Jake each paid for their own, Myles offered to pay for mine but i wouldn't let him.

We took our food home to Kalin's house and ate. Myles and Jake went home since they are going with their mom Debbie tomorrow to visit the boys' older brother Casey and spend the day with him since they don't get to see him much.

(next day)

Kalin and I have decided to just spend the day together, just us since we haven't really had that since we were little. We watched movies in his room most of the day and just hung out.. After a while he broke the silence. "So are you sure you like Cali?" He asked. "Yeah I'm sure, why?" i was confused at why he would ask that. "Nothing in particular, I just really like having you here and i know that my mom and Tayler do too," he started. Tayler is Kalin's little sister. "And especially Myles. His attitude has changed since he met you.. He's been happier, and he's always more looking forward to making music.." I couldn't help but smile. "He always wants to make our music 10x better to impress you, which i don't have a problem with since it benefits me too.." He finishes. "Kalin trust me I'm not going anywhere. I'm staying here, i love it. These past couple of days have made me the happiest I've ever been in my entire life. Plus its good to get away from everything in Wisconsin, leave behind bad memories to come here and make good ones." I said. "Yeah about that, if you don't mind me asking what actually happened?" Kalin asked, furrowing his eyebrows. "Well basically my mom was diagnosed with cancer and thats when my dad started drinking alot. Then she died and it got worse. I just needed to move and get away from it." I told him, and he nodded.

Josie's POV

Ive been thinking alot about Myles lately.. I need to know what the situation is with that Natalie girl. I decided id go to Kalin's house and talk to him about it since i figured that 1) Natalie would be at Myles's house and 2) he'd tell me everything since he's so in love with me. I drove to his house and knocked. Tayler opened the door and I told her i was here to see Kalin. She let me in so i could go talk to him. I walked up the stairs slowly because i heard voices in his room, it was Natalie. I slowly put my ear against the door. I honestly couldn't hear anything but i captured the words mom, drinking, dad, and, and alot. I didn't want to barge in cuz then they'd know i heard what they were talking about. I ran down the stairs and Tayler gave me a confused look, "He's talking with Natalie, i didn't want to interrupt." I forced the words out and she nodded her head. I ran outside to my car and thought about what i heard. Well from the bits i caught it sounds like her parents have a drinking problem.. AH! So thats why she moved here because her parents drink so much! She probably got taken out of their house by the cops for them being bad parents. Ill keep this information to myself for the time being and use it to humiliate her later.

I texted Kalin saying that we should get a ton of friends together tomorrow night, and luckily he agreed. This will be the perfect opportunity to embarrass her.
