I head into school with Simon, Nick and Abby and just as were in, Lucy comes up beside me.
"Hey, Leah! Hi, guys!", she greets. Does this girl ever stop smiling?
"Hey, Lucy.", we say in unison.
There's something weird about the way Abby's looking at her. As if she's jealous of her. But she has no reason to be. I already have her crossed off of my list of People Who Could Possibly Be April.
"So, you like The 1975.", Abby says bitterly.
Lucy looks down at her hoodie and smiles as she looks back up. Today, she's wearing a Music For Cars EP hoodie.
"Love them. I can't wait for their new album.", she says, beaming.
"Duh.", Abby mutters, not meaning for anyone to hear.
"What's your favourite new single?", she asks us.
"Love It If We Made It.", Abby and I say in unison. We smile at each other.
"Same!", Lucy says.
I notice Simon and Nick have walked to their lockers. Once The 1975 are mentioned, they're gone.
Simon is adorable. He loves the song Love Me but he'll never admit it. Then again, even the biggest The 1975 hater loves that song. If you don't start every road trip with either Love Me or Give Yourself a Try, we can't be friends.
Lucy, Abby and I keep on talking about them until its time for first period, and we go our separate ways. Before I go, Lucy kinda holds my hand for a second. My heart kinda flips a bit when that happens.
"Do you like her?", Abby whispers to me.
"What? No!", I say defensively.
Honestly, I don't know who I like anymore.

Its the day of the homecoming game. To be perfectly honest, I fucking hate sports, but I decided to go this year, to try something new.
I'm not partaking in the parade or anything. I'm literally just going to sit down with my three best friends, and maybe with Lucy. She's been hanging out with us every day, at our lunch table and everything. Abby still doesn't approve, but the rest of the guys seem to enjoy her. I'm the only one who knows she's bisexual, so that makes me feel closer to her.
Honestly, she could be April. I wouldn't be disappointed if she was. She has sent me a lot of the old The 1975 songs, back when they were Drive Like I Do. I love listening to their rare stuff.
We're talking about the new album at lunch, and then I feel someone tap my arm. I look behind me and its Morgan.
"What?", I ask her, more rudely than I intended.
"Come with me a second."
I sigh and get up and shove in my chair. I walk with her to the door of the cafeteria.
"What?!", I half whisper, half yell.
"I asked Nick to homecoming. He said he was going with someone else. Mind explaining that to me?"
"You were too late?"
"Shut up, Burke. Just watch out."
And with that, she turns on her heel and walks away.
I sigh and I head back to the table.
"What was that all about?", Abby asks.
I look at her.
"Nothing."
