When we are inside, we get merchandise. I get a Modernity Has Failed Us shirt, and a poster of Matty in the Its Not Living (If Its Not With You) music video. Lucy gets a T-shirt with Matty's face and a Matty poster. To be honest, I sometimes think Matty is the reason Lucy and I still like boys as well. And Abby gets a T-shirt with the album art of the debut album and the white MFC hoodie. I've never seen her with a hoodie on but when she had it on, she looks strangely adorable.
We then go into the show. We actually have really good seats. We're not too near the stage and not too far away. The show is actually excellent and is a memorable first concert for me. They perform 15 songs.
In the middle of Its Not Living (If Its Not With You), I feel hands cup my cheeks. I jerk my head beside me. Its Abby. And before I know it, her lips are on mine.
And I'm so shocked. Because its Abby Suso. And she's straight. And not April. And Lucy's right here. And I'm kissing back.
Holy fuck. Its my first kiss. And I have no clue what to make of this. I don't know whether to love it, or be mad at Abby.
When she pulls away, she smiles at me, and we resume dancing, like nothing happened. I try to shove it into the bin icon in my brain. And, for the most part, it works. I manage to have a good time.
Then, when the show's over, I realise its time for the meet and greet. I'll be meeting Matty Jesus Healy. Holy shit.
As we're walking out, I notice Lucy's smirk again.
"Lucy, what is it?", I say slowly.
She keeps the smirk on her face. Then, she opens her purse and takes out an envelope and hands it to me.
I chuckle as I open it up. I then reach my fingers in and pull out three tickets. I pull them out and stare at them.
"Holy shit..."
V.I.P passes to meet The 1975 backstage.
I fling my arms around them and I start to cry.
"How did you get these?", I ask them when I separate from them.
"I won them. Only 3 they had.", Abby says beaming.
Oh, Abby. You're amazing. But why did you kiss me?
I hug them again, and we walk over to the back doors and show security our passes. They smile at us and they let us in.
Holy fuck. We're backstage with The 1975.
"George, man, when are the girls gonna be here?"
"Be patient, Matty. They'll be on in a minute."
"You do realise they're 17, Matty? We literally have a song about this."
"Fuck off, Ross."
The three of us start silently giggling. We're in the same room as The 1975 and they're having this cute hilarious banter about us and they don't even know we're here.
"Language, Matthew."
"I'm 29, Adam. And I'm sorry. Just, I really wanna meet these kids. Especially Leah. Some bitch outed her to the whole school and I want to make her happy."
My heart skids to a stop. He's talking about me. Abby and Lucy are gaping at me.
"Aw, Matt, you're sweet. I'm sure she'll be delighted."
"Thanks, Rossy."
I can't take it anymore. I just clear my throat.
"Uh, hello?", Lucy says.
We hear footsteps approaching us and there he is.
Matty Healy.
In the flesh.
He's smiling at us. Holy shit. He's even cuter in real life.
"Hey, girls. I'm Matty but you already know that."
He chuckles.
"Uh, mind introducing yourselves?"
"Uh, Lucy."
"Abby."
"I-I'm Leah."
He smiles at me. He holds out his hand.
"So, you're Leah, huh?", he says. "I've been wanting to meet and talk to you. Well, come on in, girls! Let's have tea!"
I almost giggle. He's so British.
He leads us into another part of the backstage. There's 2 couches, a chair, a table and a bunch of equipment lying around. On one couch, there's Adam, Ross and George, and his girlfriend Gabby is sitting on the chair. They're all smiling at us.
OK, I gotta admit, as jealous as I am of Gabby, I gotta admit I have a crush on her.
"Hey, girls.", George says smiling. "Sit down."
We sit down on the couch, and Matty sits beside me. I'll be lucky if I get through the next 2 hours alive.
