John's POV

Lilly's chances of making it were slim to none and Sherlock knew it too. Tears gathered in his eyes and their blue dulled to a almost lifeless gray. Peter came in on crutches accompanied by Greg. We all wait in a deafening silence for any news.

Lilly's dream

A small dark haired girl sat in the doorway in her pajamas as her mother played violin. 'Someday I'll be just like my mommy.' She thought. As the song ended the mother saw the girl. "Lilly why are you up?" "Mommy can I learn violin like you?" Lilly asked her head cocked to the side. Her mother smiled, "As soon as your Dad learns you can." Lilly smiled. "You'll be my teacher, right?" "Yes." "Promise?" Lilly asked with a yawn. "I promise." Lilly smiled as ran back to bed to tell her brother.

The scene changes, it's dark and Lilly's asleep in her bedroom a few years later. Her brother shakes her awake and covers her mouth. "We have to hide. There are bad men in the house." Lilly's eyes filled with fear, "Uriah, where's daddy?" "He's working. Come on, hurry." Lilly heard unfamiliar footsteps down the hall, "Get the brats and let's get out of here." Lilly scrambled out of bed and followed Uriah to the bathroom. Peeking out to make sure no one was there Uriah pulled Lilly to the door. They hid in the bushes as their mom was pulled out of the house by three men. "Where are they?" The bigger of the three growled. "Long gone by now." she spat. The smallest pulled out a gun and put it to her head. "Tell me." "Lilly, Uriah if you're still here I love you and your daddy. Run! Lilly, Uri-" A gunshot rang through the small neighborhood and Allison Holmes slumped forward. Lilly cried into Uriah's shoulder silently until the men went back into the house. Then Uriah held her at shoulder's length, "We have to get to Mr. Lestrade. Daddy's friend from work." Lilly nodded quietly sniffling.

They ran from the small neighborhood and eventually found themselves at Scotland yard chilled to the bone and shaking in fear of what they'd seen. Greg Lestrade had been working with Sherlock Holmes on a case when he had come into his office to find none other than the Holmes twins. Lilly was sobbing and Uriah loked up at Lestrade, "There are strange men in our house. They got mummy. She told us to run so we did." Lestrade was shocked as Donavan came in. "Sir- What happened?" "Send men to the Holmes house, they were attacked." "Are you sure it wasn't the Freak?" Lilly looked up, "Don't ever call my daddy a Freak again. Besides he has a alibi, he was working a case with Mr. Lestrade, right?" She turned to Greg and relaxed as he nodded. "Sorry. Did you see who did it?" Donavan asked on her knees so she was eye level with the terrified twins. "There were three men, all armed. One was tall with a scar over his right eye. The other one was shorter with blonde hair and one green eye and one blue eye. And the last man was the shortest of the three with a slight Irish accent had dark brown had and seemed to be the leader." Lilly said while Lestrade just stared. "You sound like your dad." Lilly fell silent. "Where is daddy?" "He was... On his way home." Greg realized the problem and jumped up and grabbed his keys. "Donavan watch them." Greg and A few other officers ran out the door. Donavan got them blankets and Lilly curled up with Uriah and they both fell asleep.

Sherlock ran in to see his kids were safe and sound asleep. Tears ran down his face in waves. as he looked at his wife's once beautiful face now destroyed. He took the twins home and they packed. Sherlock picked up Allison's violin and played the first song she'd taught him. Canon in D. Lilly sat in the doorway as she had all those years ago. She fell asleep as he finished.

Lilly's POV

I was lost in my own head, my mind palace had become a prison. I walked through the corridors in search of a way out and found only memories that I'd tried to lock away. I could hear the pounding of my heartbeat like a drum as I ran. I kept running until I found myself at a door. not recognizing it I opened it to see me. A deranged me in a straight jacket. "Oh God." I said trying to look away, but finding it hard. My black curls were matted to my face and my eyes were gray.

Just then Uriah stepped beside me- the real me- and put a hand on my shoulder. "This is where you locked away the memories you couldn't cope with. Dad taught us that, remember?" I nod. "Let's get out of here." I follow him down the corridors of my mind. "You're dying." I stop and look at him, "I can't be." Uriah looked at me somberly. "I guess that's your choice." "Did you choose to live?" Uriah smiles soberly, "I wasn't that lucky." "What do I do?" "Follow me or follow dad and I will guide you home or dad will guide you to him. It's your choice, but you must act quickly." I turn to see my Dad standing a few feet behind me. "My choice."

Sherlock's POV

I couldn't think straight. First Allison, then Uriah, and now I may lose Lilly too. My little girl. John keeps looking at me concerned, but I ignore his pointless pity. I look at Peter, 'This isn't his fault, but at the same time it is.' A nurse walked into the waiting room we were in. Happily married, two kids, and a cat. "Lily is out of surgery, but she's still not looking very good. You can see her now." I got up as did John and Mary. We walked behind the nurse silently.

We stopped in front of a door and walked in to see my only daughter dying on a hospital bed. Her long black curls overtook the white of the pillow and her skin was paler than fresh snow. My heart dropped as I looked at my daughter. What was I supposed to do?

John's POV

I looked at Sherlock. He looked like a deer in headlights, confused. I looked at Lilly her black curls fanned out on her pillow. 'Please, Lilly. For your father's sake... Be okay.'

Lilly's POV

I stood motionless for a while. 'I'm not ready to die.' I thought. Uriah gave me a knowing look and nodded. I walked towards my Dad who smiled and put his arm on my shoulder and all went black.

I opened my eyes to see my Dad watching me a smile broke through his mask. I saw John and Mary walk through the door and stop. They told me what I'd missed and finally the question arose. "What happened?' John asked. I sighed, "When Lestrade and I went in we saw Peter tied to a column and I ran and untied him while he covered me. But once Lestrade had Peter he booked it and I was exposed. I took down one guy, but Moriarty cam behind me and I heard him and we both shot. I hit Moriarty right between the eyes and I guess I was so shocked I didn't notice the wound until I fell." John fell silent as he wondered what was going to happen. "It was self defence, and you got hurt. I can have it dismissed." Lestrade stood in the doorway. I felt a weak smile tug at the corners of my mouth, but it quickly fell when Peter entered on crutches. I could tell from the bags under his eyes he hadn't slept in days and it was all my fault.

"Peter," My voice was straining against tears."I'm-" "Don't you dare," He cut her off, "This isn't your fault. It isn't really anyone's fault. All that matters is that you're safe and I'm here." I nodded and relaxed. Peter crutched over to the seat beside my bed and sat down. Dad's face was stonily still as if trying to decide between rage or happiness. I looked at him again and he met my eyes and smiled. All was well and I planned to keep it that way.
