                                                                        Lilly's POV

I woke up to John stroking my hair and Lestrade, Donavan, and Dad talking. Wait why was I on the counch and what was half of scotland yard doing here? I sat up and winced running off without my crutches last night really took its toll. John seeing my discomfort got up and when he returned he had my painkillers and some toast and jam. "What time is it? I asked groggily. John looked at his watch, "A quarter past two." "What? Why didn't you wake me?What's everybody doing here?" John looked nervous, "Um, eat and we'll brief you on the situation."Okay, but-" "No buts about it. Eat now." I sighed and ate. Then Dad came and sat by me as Lestrade briefed us on the situation.

When I realized what was really going on I paled. Dad held me close stroking my hair trying to comfort me, but all i really wanted is for this to be a dream. I want to wake up and see Uriah on the bed across the room. He'll sit up and we'll play guitar and sing until John comes and tells us to stop. But that wasn't going to happen old Uriah, my Uriah was gone and I'd never be able to get him back. I wasn't aware that i had been crying until Dad wiped them gently from my face. He held me close and told me everything would be okay, but that wasn't true. We would never be a family again, Uriah wouldn't be coming home.

Sally brought me coffee and I gladly accepted if i was going to survive then I would have to be awake and alert. I was drinking my coffee then my eyes got wide, "Uriah is smarter than you're giving him credit for. He also happens to know every weakness and every secret I have. And we know that he's bent on destroying me because he thinks I'm a parasite. Think about it how do you get rid of a parasite? You use it's weaknesses against it like you would for anything. He might not be here yet, but he knows that I know he's coming and he'll try to use that to his advantage. Look at it from his perspective I'm a mouse hiding in my mouse hole what does he want to do get rid of me, and how do you think he'll do that? Anyone?" Dad spoke his voice shaking slightly, "He'll try to flush you out. Oh, that's genius! Lilly you perfect genius! How'd you figure that out though?" I shake as I reply, "Because he's sent me a text saying that he's coming. It's already started. Ladies and Gentlemen this is now a battle of wits. One of us will break eventually, but the stakes are high. We're playing for the lives of everyone here. Because knowing Uriah since you guys are helping me you're now part of the problem. If I lose then we all do." As that sank in everyone was silent. "On that happy note lets set up watch." John said braking the silence.

                                                                      Sherlock's POV

The game is on, but for the first time I'm not sure if i can win. Lilly understands what's at stake, but Uriah has always been the one person who could easily overpower her. I will protect her to my dying breath and anyone who knows me knows that. He might be stronger physically, but Lilly's always been mentally stronger than him and sometime even me. She could do this and she would. My thoughts were interupted by John, "Oi, sherlock you might want to see this." I jumped from my seat next to my daughter and ran over to John who was now holding a purple envelope adressed to Lilly.

                                                                        Lilly's POV

I openned the letter and low and behold a poem fell out. My old friend Edgar Allen Poe had come around for a visit.

"From childhood's hour I havenot been as others were- I have not seen as others saw- I could not bring my passions from a common spring-From the same source I have not taken my sorrow- I could not awaken my heart to joy at the same tone- and all I lov'd- I lov'd alone. Then- in my childhood- in the dawn of a most stormy life- was drawn from ev'ry depth of good and ill the mystery that binds me still- From the torrent, or the fountain- From the red cliff of the mountain- From the sun that 'round me roll'd in its autumn tent of gold- from the lightning in the sky as it pass'd me flying by- From the thunder, and the storm- And the cloud that took the form(When the rest of HEaven was blue) Of a demon in my view-" - Edgar Allen Poe

Hey freak,

By now you've figured out what we're playing for. This poem I thought was a perfect reflection of you're life and it always will be. Go on have your fun I've laid out a series of mysteries based off of the Nancy Drew novels you love so much. Figures you always said that those books were a blessing and now they're your curse. Have fun and I hope you like book one.

                                                                         Uriah

I crumpled up the note and threw it across the room. "This isn't fair! Why can't he just leave me alone! Now he's making the first move. Oi, everybody listen! I just got my first note. Welcome to the first book hold on tight it's gonna be hell."
