Plant a tree

At the beginning of this month, I bought a kerosene cooking stove. I have never really been a fan of it but i was forced to because it's the cheaper option lately as charcoal prices in the country have sky rocketed.

In the past, 99% of the people in my country used charcoal for cooking in their households_this is not the case anymore.

Fortunately, more people have moved to more environmental friendly options such as gas and electricity, oh, and us kerosene stove users. The scarcity of charcoal has arisen from the depletion of forests which charcoal makers often cut down to make charcoal. The good news is, with the excessive heat and dry spells, there has been increased awareness and sensitization about the dangers of deforestation.

It's for this reason that am going to plant a tree. a tree for each month of the year. so that when am older and frail_ I will have fresh air to breath in, a shade to sit under. Babies in our future will have a green earth to call home, and the rain will fall and the rivers will flow, and the plants will grow, and the children will flourish.

For this future I envision, plant a tree today, save a forest.
