Invincible

Lloyd's POV

Seconds after I had explained what I saw, all six of us ninja, plus Rumi, jumped off the building, landing on the concrete sidewalk.

"You three go around the left side," I told Kai, Jay, and Nya. "The rest of us will go around the right side. Be careful, try to stay out of sight as much as possible."

"What about me?" Rumi asked.

"I need you to stay here," I told her.

"But Lloyd!" She replied. "Why can't I help?" I sighed before answering.

"You guys go ahead," I told the five ninja. Turning back around to Rumi, I placed my hand on her shoulder and took off my hood.

"I don't want you to get hurt. I nearly lost you once, I can't let that happen again," I explained. She smiled at me, then pulled me toward her for a hug. I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her tighter.

"Be careful," she told me, finally letting me go. I nodded, pulling my hood back on before running to catch up with the other ninja.

By the time I finally caught up with the rest, all of us ninja were sneaking around the backs of buildings, staying in the shadows as much as possible. Already, we were about five blocks away from the smoky building.

"Use the rooftops now," I whispered to Cole, finally catching up to him. He nodded before running off to tell the others. Using a few street signs and clothes lines, I manage to make it up to the rooftop.

As I run across the rooftop, I noticed Jay on a rooftop across from me, with Nya on the one behind him. But once Nya leaped off the building, attempting to land on the next one, her foot slipped, causing her to fall.

Luckily, Jay noticed and grabbed her hand before she hit the ground. Jay pulled her up onto the rooftop. Why does that remind me of the time I nearly fell? Harumi saved me then. I smiled at the memory.

Finally back on the roof, Nya quickly gave Jay a thank you kiss on his cheek. I smiled at the two before remembering we were on a mission.

I continued running and jumping across rooftops, until the strange building was in front of me. Looking around to make sure the other ninja followed, I noticed Kai, Nya, and Jay on one building diagonally across from me. Cole and Zane were right below me, already on the damaged sidewalk. This isn't the best part of town. I wouldn't be surprised if this is some hideout for criminals. The smoke is more suspicious though... I had a rather annoying habit of thinking too much right before a battle.

3rd POV

"This stuff is weird," Kai reached out, poking some of the black smoke. It suddenly started moving and began slowly swirling around the red ninja.

"KAI! Why would you touch the creepy smoke!?" Jay screamed.

"I didn't know it would do that, Jay!" The smoke stopped swirling and a dark figure seemed to be inside of it. (A/N: season 5 reference)

"Uhhh, guys..," Nya slowly started backing up. The three ninja pulled out their weapons while the other three on the ground tried running over to help them. A section of smoke moved in front of them, blocking their path.

Lloyd, Zane. And Cole also brought out their weapons, preparing to fight whatever sort of evil came at them. Two dark figures inside the smoke stepped out, revealing himself to be an Oni.

"They're...ONI!!" Lloyd shouts

An Oni immediately jumped out from the strange black smoke, landing on top of Kai. The red ninja tried to push it off, but unsurprisingly, the Oni was stronger.  Jay and Nya end up helping him, until eventually the three manage to push the Oni off Kai.

It wasn't finished though. The Oni pulled a small black knife out, charging toward the ninja with it. Kai and Jay were able to move in time, but as it ran past Nya, the knife just barely scraped her arm, still causing it to bleed.

"HOW DARE YOU!" Jay shouts, shooting lightning at the Oni. It only stops it for a second.

"These guys are invincible!" Kai shouts. The Oni ran toward Kai, who stopped it from striking him with his katanas. Jay joined him, shocking the Oni with his element.

Nya snuck up behind the Oni while it was distracted by Kai and Jay. Once she was close enough, she side-kicked the Oni off the edge of the roof.

"One down," Nya said, watching the Oni hit the ground before it ran back into the smoke.

Kai, Nya, and Jay ran toward the rest of the ninja to find Zane and Lloyd used their elements against one of the Oni, although it barely affected it. Cole on the other hand was using his spinjitzu nonstop on the second Oni.

"I could use some help over here!" Cole shouted, struggling to fight against the Oni. Kai and Jay rushed over, using their powers to help. Nya ran to help Zane and Lloyd, who were also struggling against the other Oni.

Cole's POV

"These things just don't give up!" Lloyd shouted, frustrated that it was taking so long to defeat them.

"Yeah- wait, something's off..." I looked around, noticing the smoke had gotten thicker.

"I can't see them!" Nya shouts.
I started to freak out. The Oni I was just fighting a moment ago had....disappeared?

"Guys! I lost mine!" I shouted into the smoke. Suddenly, a cold, black hand covered my mouth. I immediately knew it was an Oni.

Another one appeared in front of me. It began changing its appearance, when I noticed it began to look exactly like me. I gasped, realizing the Oni was shape-shifting into a copy of me. I tried to get the other ninja's attention and warn them, but unfortunately the other Oni kept me from shouting.

The smoke began to clear as the fake Cole turned and walked toward the ninja. The Oni behind me suddenly turned around sharply, still holding a hand over my mouth, and started walking toward the dark, smoke filled building.

Lloyd's POV

Finally, the smoke started to clear, although neither of the Oni were in sight. Thankfully most of the team still was.

"Where's Cole?" I asked the others, looking around for him.

"Right here," someone answered. I looked behind me to see Cole walking in my direction. He seems...different somehow. I shrugged it off and looked around to make sure everyone is safe.

"Where did the Oni go?" Nya asked while Jay helped her off the ground.

"Must've run away," I answered. "Anyway, we should head back before dark." I added, noticing the sun was setting.

"Double up on our dragons. It'll be easier," I told the others before half of us summoned our elemental dragons.

3rd POV

Kai, 'Cole', Jay, and Nya flew back to the monastery on their dragons, while Lloyd and Zane went to pick up Harumi first.

Sitting behind Kai on his fire dragon, the Oni Cole smirked devilishly upon seeing the monastery in the distance.
