ANNA'S POV
"Right, Anna. I'll drop you off on my way to work, is that okay?" My auntie, Dianna, handed me a bowl of cereal.
I nodded my head.
"Yeah, I have my key."
I smiled at Dianna and helped myself to a spoon from the kitchen side. It's around 8am in the morning and I have to go back home early because Maddie has plans today and nobody is at their house to look after me. I sat down on one of the breakfast stools in their kitchen and tucked into the bowl of cereal.
"Are you ready now?" Dianna stuck her head around Maddie's bedroom door.
I finished packing the last of my things and slung the bag strap over my shoulder.
"All ready." I trailed behind Dianna out of the house and hopped into one of the back seats.
"Let's go then," Dianna smiled at me in the rear view mirror and rolled out onto the road.
Dianna pulled into my driveway and unlocked the car, allowing me to get out. I grabbed my bag and kissed Dianna on the cheek.
"Thank you for letting me stay," I grinned at her and then wandered to the front door, using my spare key (which, by the way, Demi doesn't know I have!) to unlock the door.
I waved off Dianna and shut the door. The house is really quiet, it's nearly half 8. Sometimes Demi is eating breakfast now or watching TV, she's usually up though. Weird.
I slowly stepped up the stairs, trying to not wake Demi in case she was still asleep, and went into my bedroom. I flung the bag on the bed and shimmied off my coat. Why wasn't she awake? I frowned to myself, not enjoying the quietness of the house. I anxiously chewed on my lip whilst making the journey from my bedroom to Demi's. The bedroom door was shut, another weird thing. The door is always open in case I have nightmares about mom and dad. I sucked my breath in as to not make any sound and then opened the bedroom door.
My eyes nearly popped out of my head at what I saw. Demi and Nick were laying in bed and both of their arms were entwined with each other. Demi usually sleeps in this strappy long top that was mom's but there are no straps on her shoulders so I don't think she's wearing anything. I think Demi could feel eyes on her because within a few seconds, she opened her eyes.
DEMI'S POV
Oh shit. Oh shit. Oh shit. I sat up in bed and wrapped the duvet around my front and held it under my armpits. Anna was just staring.
"Anna, I can explain," her eyes weren't shifting off Nick who was now slurring in his sleep.
"Anna."
She continued to stare and then looked at me.
"What about Wilmer?"
My heart sunk. I had kind of forgotten about that whole thing until now.
"I'm not dating Wilmer anymore, Anna, you know that. He's in Louisiana now."
Anna just nodded at me and quietly left the room.
I turned to look at Nick and shook him awake.
"Nick, Anna's home. She saw you with me."
Nick groggily sat up in bed and wrapped his side of the duvet around him.
"She did? How did she get in? Oh gosh," Nick hopped out of bed and hurried around, throwing on his old clothes.
I smirked, admiring his bare body for the short while it was on show. I rubbed my eyes and grabbed my phone off the side.
1 New Message - Wilmer
My heart sunk even further than it did when I saw Anna standing at the bottom of my bed. I looked at Nick, who was in his own little world in the bathroom trying to get ready, and then back at my phone.
Demi, we need to talk. W
I frowned at his lack of kisses and shut my phone off, not the slightest bit interested in what he had to say. Nick glanced back at me.
"What's wrong, Demi?"
I shrugged, hopping out of the bed with my back turned to him and scurried off into the closet.
"Nothing, I'll be one second." I hurridly grabbed my clothes for the day and then scarpered to the bathroom.
I glanced back at Nick, "I think you should go and chill with Anna," and forced him a reassuring smile before shutting the bathroom door.
I turned the shower on and then hopped in.
NICK'S POV
I double-checked my decency in the mirror on Demi's dressing table and then went downstairs, on the hunt for the confused 10-year-old. I stopped in my tracks and looked at Anna perched on the sofa, her eyes seemingly lost in whatever show she was watching.
"Anna, sorry for what you saw," I stiffled an awkward laugh and watched Anna snap back to reality.
"I learned in school the other day that you have to let people do what they want to be happy. Is Demi happy?"
I widened my eyes at Anna's wisdom and nodded my head, "I think so. She seemed happy."
Anna smiled at me and then flicked the TV off.
"Then I am happy. But what about Wilmer?"
I shrugged my shoulders, hiding the anger that his name filled me with.
"People move on," I turned back to look at the face behind the voice that just spoke.
Demi walked down the stairs with a towel turban on and a robe tightly wrapped around her. Stunning.
DEMI'S POV
I tugged the robe tighter around me and smiled at the duo.
"Anna, people move on. I've moved on, well I'm moving on."
I sat between them both on the sofa and wrapped my one arm around Nick and the other around Anna, pulling them closer.
"Morning you guys!" They both frowned at me, causing me to laugh.
"Look, I have to go to work. I'm getting picked up any second now. I know it's late timing but I thought it was tomorrow, guess not."
I tugged the robe off to reveal a simple pair of leggings and a strappy top, then shook the towel off my head.
Anna spoke up, "Can I come?"
I shook my head and pointed to Nick.
"Not this time, hence why babysitter Jonas is here to save the day!"
Nick jokingly pushed my arm just as the doorbell went. I jumped up from between the two and shook my hair in an attempt to dry it.
"Look, Anna, if you ever need me just get Nick to text me, alright?" I rushed for the door and waved whilst leaving.
"Love you!"
ANNA'S POV
Someone was in a rush. I looked at Nick and flicked the TV back on to break the awkward silence.
"I guess this is the part where I get to know you, isn't it? I mean, if you're dating Demi..."
Nick looked at me and dramatically gawped. "I'm not dating Demi."
"Oh, you aren't? But you were in her b-"
"We were having a slumber party like you did."
I formed a frown and wrinkled my forehead as much as I possibly could. Nick sucked his teeth and tugged the Monopoly board game from underneath the sofa, as if he plotted it there.
"Shall we start the bonding session now then?"
I shrugged my shoulders and spaced out from Nick to leave him enough space to place the board game.
"Sure."
