Manik dragged Nandini out of the house, made her sit on the passengers seat of his car and quickly went to the driver's seat and turned towards Nandini who was looking completely lost.
'Nandini?' she turned to look at him with a blank expression. His heart broke into million pieces seeing her in that condition. He knew that she has gone down her memory lane and thinking about everything that happened with 'him'.
'Manik I don't want to eat ice-cream. Can we please go to our spot for a while?' she asked him desperately. 'You don't have to say please, baby. Five minutes we'll be there.' saying this, he started the car. Within 5 minutes they reached a small lake, which was their late night hang out spot. Manik turned around to see Nandini sitting lost inside the car itself. He went to her side of the car, opened the door for her a shook her a little, which brought her attention to him. He held out his hand for her which she immediately grabbed. Both walked towards the lake and sat on the walk-through with their legs dipped in the water.

Nandini wrapped her hand around his arm and kept her head on his shoulder and said, 'Manik, maine honestly bohot try kiya to forget everything, but this is the 3rd time I have bumped into him and because of this I am not able to forget it. I know after I told you, you were furious at yourself for not being there beside me. But tell me one thing, how will you know something like this is even going to happen? Agar kisi ko pata hota ki yeh hona wala tha, toh zaahir si baat hai ki koi na koi mere saath hota. But yeh unpredictable hai. Na mere aur na hi tumhare haath mai hai. So please, at least for me stop blaming yourself. I know that during dinner time, you hardly ate anything because you were busy cursing yourself.' She said the last line looking at his face. He had a surprised look on his face yet again, because she knew exactly what was going on in his mind at what point.
'Nandini, yaad hai what I told you after that incident? I told you that I will make sure that you forget everything that has happened, and today seeing you so vulnerable, gives me a reality check that I failed. I couldn't make you forget everything. Maine promise kiya tha I'll be the bestest friend you could ever ask for, and I failed miserably. I'm sorry Nandini.' By the end of it, Manik was bitterly crying. Nandini just hugged him tight and was continuously rubbing his back. She knew it, that if she said something now, it would go into deaf ears. So she chose to calm him first and then talk to him properly. Once she found him much calmer than before, she broke the hug and kissed his forehead and cheek.
'Manik, do you know why am I the closest to you? Because you kept up your promise.' He looked at her surprised. She chuckled at little at his expression and then continued, 'Have you ever seen me upset on a regular basis about this? Nahi na? It's just when he comes in front of my eyes, all the incidents just come back to my mind. Believe me Manik, just a few more weeks and I'll be over it. You've made me a much stronger person than I am. I didn't know that I could be this strong and deal with all this with a sane mind. Mujhe hamesha se yeh laga ki shayaad I'll always be dependent on someone, but you made me realize that I am strong enough to deal with all of this.' Manik just looked at her and gave his most beautiful smile which automatically brought a smile on her face too.
