It was stupid and you knew it. You and Loki had been together for 2 years now and like all couples had the occasional fight but for the most part, it was good. Actually, it wasn't good, it was great. You two were in love.

And yet it still hurt when he flirted with Natasha. You knew nothing was going on. Heck, Nat was your best friend since you joined the Avengers and you trusted her completely. You also trusted Loki 100%. But it still hurt. You tried to reason with yourself. You trusted both of them, Loki had just proposed three weeks ago and if he wasn't interested in you he wouldn't have done that. You knew the flirting wasn't by choice. It had been part of their 'newly married couples' act for the mission.

And yet your insecurities set in. Nat was beautiful. And that was putting it simply. She was smart, capable, strong, and as Clint liked to joke flexible. And you were - well - you. You weren't anything special compared to her. It was true you were both highly trained S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives but still, you had nothing on her.

And all that lead to the fight. Really it wasn't much of a fight. You just ignored Loki and he got frustrated when you wouldn't even look him in the eye. He was soft at first but your actions ticked him off and he decided to go cool off before his anger made things worse.

You, on the other hand, were only thinking about the problem and making your self-doubt worse. You were cuddled up under a blanket on the couch on yours and Loki's floor of the tower. You had a cup of cocoa and had on Loki's hoodie, which was much too large for you.

The more you thought the worse it got and you were on the verge of tears when you heard someone calling your name. You quickly gathered yourself and called out "I'm in the living room." You knew it wasn't Loki but as you turned to look the voice clicked and you saw Peter coming into the room with his backpack.

"Shouldn't you be in school?" You asked as he plopped down on the couch next to you.

"We had a half day today." He explained with an excited tone. He could almost always make you smile and today was no exception. But something was a little off. He kept fiddling with the backpack that occupied his lap. He almost seemed to be cradling it, which wasn't normal for him. He was constantly throwing it around or dropping it.

"Are you okay?"

He glanced at you with a serious look in his face, "Can you keep a secret?"

"After all these years of knowing me, why do you still question me? I'm a spy for goodness sake! I would be dead a hundred times over if I couldn't keep a secret!"

"Okay, okay, it's just if Mr. Stark found out he would kill me."

"Alright, that's slightly worrisome. What is it?"

He adjusted the backpack on his lap then unzipped the main pocket and lifted out a black cat.

"Aww! It's so cute!" The midnight colored cat was beautiful. It had sleek black fur and the greenest eyes you could imagine. It began to purr as Peter scratched its neck, "Wait, since when do you have a cat?"

"Two weeks ago. I found it while out patrolling with its paw stuck in a dumpster. I got it out and took it back the apartment to fix up it up but Aunt May is allergic to cats so I couldn't keep it there. I've always wanted a pet and have never been able to with Aunt May. So I took it to Ned's and he had it up until this morning when his Mom found it in his room and she told him he had to get rid of it."

"And let me guess, you want me to keep...him?" The cat was now snuggled up in my lap enjoying the warmth.

"Yeah, it's a he. And I don't want to let him go. I know I won't see him as often but having him here is better than at some shelter."
