Chapter One
April 12th, 1877
Brown Family Manor
London, Britain. The sun rose high basking the ground with it's shine. The leafs blew with the sway of winds. The birds started chirping, singing their own tune. People started resuming their daily chores in the estate of Lord Brown of Yorkshire.
The parlour maids started huddling around the halls, opening the curtains letting the sunshine in the house, shooing away all the darkness created by the family in the manor.
Except one.
Lady Scarlett Brown, was still in a land far away filled with happiness, in her deep slumber, away from the place that gives her nothing but grief.
The day was still young and lively to wake this beauty up but Marie, the parlour maid could not waste a minute away for the fear of Lady Julie's wrath. Everyone knew her behaviour and everyone did everything to not let them befall into a drastic situation which would lead them to grovel at Lady Julie's feet.
Marie took a deep breath, raising her hand on the oak door.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
The loud groan of Scarlett was audible from under the blanket and she rolled over to hide the rising sunshine from her face.
Knock! Knock!
The sound was unusual but familiar for Scarlett in her dream.
At once, she uncovered her face and opened her eyes to the white ceiling, looking sideways to find the source of that sound. Ceiling? Why was there a ceiling in the garden? There were supposed to be birds and rabbits all around her. Why was she covered with blanket? That was all going through Scarlett's head.
Blinking several times to make sure of her surrounding, she rubbed her eyes and widened her eyes when she took in her surrounding.
Oh no, She is suppose to be in the garden! Not this horrid place.
Scarlett tried to rub her sleep off before the bloody door breaks.
Oh the door! That was where the sound came from!
"Lady Scarlett, Lady Scarlett!"
A shout came from the other side of the door startling Scarlett to the dead. Uh no, not dead but definitely startled enough to make her fall from the bed with a thump!
"Oww!"
Scarlett's knee throbbed once more. Her knee already bruised enough. Oh the result of someone's wrath. I should watch out my surroundings more often, thought Scarlett.
"Lady Scarlett? Are you awake? What was that sound?" Marie, the parlor maid shouted behind the door. Oh Marie, why do you shout so much? I am not deaf. Scarlett badly wanted to shout that back at her but instead shouted another.
"I am fine, Marie and I am awake too."
"Oh, okay. It's good that you're awake because it seems like in a minute you'll be late for breakfast." Marie opened the door and came in to find Scarlett on her knees, wrapped around her blanket.
"What?" Scarlett exclaimed, standing on her legs and looked at Marie's face to confirm whether it was a jest or not.
Marie quickly closed the door and looked at her, "Shhhhh, Stop making noise and get ready! You do not want to be on Lady Julie's bad side today. She is in a bit of a mood this morrow."
"Oh no!" Scarlett whispered and quickly walked in her closet to find her dress and start her morning routine. Scarlett definitely did not want to be the one to feel the wrath of her Aunt Julie again. Oh sorry, Aunt Lady Julie. The way she liked herself to be called. Scarlett rolled her eyes at that.
