Simon's POV:
I was collecting things from my locker when I heard people chanting from down the corridor. I followed the noise and saw a crowd of people all chanting 'fight' and two people standing in the middle one on the ground the other staring in shock.
I knew the guy on the floor, he was the arsehole from yesterday who sits on the table with my friends. The other, Josh. Had Josh punched him?
"Josh, Josh what happened?" I asked pushing my way through the crowd.
"I-I-I don't know I was just so angry I couldn't stop myself" he said. I took his arm in my hand and dragged him away from the crowd.
"Why were you angry? What did he do?" I asked
"He told me to stay away from you so I said something snarky to him he grabbed me and I punched him"
"Why would he tell you to stay away from me?"
"Probably cause you're popular and I'm not"
"Well I'd much rather be friends with you not him" I said smiling at him
"Joshua Bradley come with me" a teacher approached
"Sure" he said sighing, we both knew this was coming
"I'm coming too" I said
"Fine" she said, clearly not bothered enough to argue with me
We both followed her into the headmasters office. The arsehole was sat there with a tissue absorbing the blood coming from his nose.
I sat next to Josh.
"Why are you here Simon?" The headmaster questioned, we knew each other well but not for bad reasons.
"Well because I'm Josh's friend and I was a witness"
"To the punch?" He questioned
"Well no, but I'm a witness to another thing"
"Simon you don't have to tell him about yesterday it's fine" he said quietly to only me
"No it's not Josh, it's about time arseholes like him got put in their place." I reassured him
"So what exactly happened I've heard Nathan's (arsehole) side of the story now I want Josh's.
Josh looked nervous I just gave him a reassuring look.
"I was standing by my locker and he came over to me. He told me to stay away from Simon, I wasn't facing him, I didn't turn around I just told him that it wasn't like I was stalking Simon and said he should ask Simon if he wants us to stay away from each other. He said he wasn't asking and attempted to turn me around, I asked who said he could touch me and punched him."
"That seems a bit drastic don't you think Josh" the headmaster said
"Not after yesterday" I said
"What do you mean?" He asked me
"Well, this arsehole"
"Language"
"Anyway he was sitting at the table I sit at with my friends and JJ asked me about working with Josh, eh interrupted our conversation tone horrible about Josh and ever call him a disgusting word - which Josh heard. So he deserved it"
"What disgusting word?" The headmaster asked
"F*ggot" I said quietly I truly hated that word "It's not fair, Josh gets treated like shit all the time just because he's the only out person in the year. It's bullshit! Why does the fact that he's gay bother everyone so much" I was getting so angry just thinking about it. I felt a hand on my arm.
"Simon, calm down it's ok, I'm used to it" Josh said softly
"But you shouldn't have to be Josh"
"I can assure you Simon this will be dealt with, as for this situation, josh I'm going to have to give you a warning as well as you Nathan. Don't do it again either of you"
We walked out of the office.
"Thanks for that Simon I don't think I would have got off as lightly if you weren't there"
"It's ok thats what friends do" I said smiling then I walked to my next class
