A/N - I talk about religion for like 6 lines. I'm no expert and everyone's opinions and interpretations are their own. If you disagree with me please keep it to yourself and ignore what I have wrote, it's not crucial to the storyline.
Simon's POV:
It was Monday. The day had finally arrived.
Today was the day people found out.
They learned of my love for Josh.
The day was going smoothly as usual. Social studies was the period before lunch so we kinda expected that at lunch news would spread but luckily there was only one period after that and we were both in it and the teacher was one of the nicest in the school, she wouldn't put up with homophobic shit from anyone.
I was nervous as to be expected but I knew that I wanted to do this. I knew I didn't want it to be a secret anymore.
"Ok class today are your presentation/debates your groups will be called up and it's up to you who goes first"
"Are you sure you want to do this" Josh said
"100%" I said squeezing his hand under the table. It was nearing the end of the lesson and we were the only group left
"Josh, Simon, Jared and Alex"
"We're going first" Alex said
"Off you go boys"
Their points were mainly that the bible says it's wrong and that marriage should be between and man and a woman, kids should be raised by a man and a woman. We had so won this.
We got up to the front and presented our points. Josh one side of the board and me the other.
We spoke about how all love should be celebrated, no one should be discriminated against because they don't fit social norms, just because someone is gay doesn't mean there's anything wrong with them and the affects of homophobia. We could have gone on more but we only had a limited amount of time.
"And most importantly there is nothing wrong with loving who you love, no matter their gender" I finished moving over to Josh and taking his hand in mine, intertwining our fingers. I smiled at him and he smiled back and then we turned to back to the class.
"Question time, as before the class can ask questions about the subject and both sides can argue points"
"Why does the bible say being gay is wrong?" a girl asked from somewhere near the back
"Because God knows it's disgusting" answered Jared
"Actually it doesn't the true meaning of that part of the bible means that man shall not lie with boy, it's talking about paeophillia not gay people"
After a few more questions the teacher announced that there was time for one more question.
"Why are Simon and Josh holding hands?"
Before either Jared or Alex could say anything I interrupted.
"Because as I said there is nothing wrong with loving the person you love and I love Josh"
"And I love Simon" Josh says.
Talking could be heard through out the room.
"Quiet, Josh and Simon win, the hard way stronger points that Jared and Alex and they were clearly more planned"
The bell rung and everyone left class.
I did it. Now people knew something before I met Josh I wanted no one to ever find out. However now that I was with him none of that mattered.
I was happiest when I was with him, nothing else compared to it. I love Joshua Bradley and I don't care who knows.
