Now back to our not-so regularly scheduled program

Camryn's P.O.V

I stared blankly outside the window as the car pulled up to Headquarters. Sighing, I stepped out of the car. "Home sweet home." I whispered before walking into the building.

_______

Yesterday

Heather stared at me in shock as the words left my lips. "Wait, you're leaving us?" She whispered as something flashed through her eyes.
I nodded numbly as I sat up in bed. I need to start packing. This may have to do with the Crescendo mission and I can't let anything, I let my gaze fall onto Heather in the mirror, or anybody get in my way of keeping hundreds of people safe.

I turned to Heather. "Don't worry, Heather, I will be back soon. They can't keep me away from the team for long." I smiled slightly at her and got a short smile in return.

She pulled me into a hug. "Just come back to me." She whispered, "I'll see you soon." She pecked my cheek and walked quickly out of my room.

That was the last time I saw her before I left.

_______

Present

"Ah, Camryn, back to have you back." Ace, the elite team leader spoke to me as I walked into their chambers.

"It's good to be back." I stated nonchalantly. "But I would like to get back sooner rather than later." I saw him smile before pouting a bit.

"You mean you don't want to see more of this?" He asked as he did the stupidest poses he could think of.

Snorting, I turned to walk to my room, "Nope."

"You're no fun Camryn!" He yelled after me.

I turned and threw the piece of paper I had in my hands at him before shuffling away.

____________

"Brown, what's your status?" Said the voice in my com.

"I am following Cristina to her hideout now. She hasn't noticed me yet." I answered back just as the Crescendo leader I was following made a left turn.

I scrambled into the alleyway after her, making sure I stuck to the shadows. A few feet in front of me, she stopped. "You can come out of hiding, little one, I know you are there." I cursed quietly and was just about to step out of the shadows when a teenage boy stepped out of another alleyway.

"Where is my sister!" He pretty much yelled at Cristina. She laughed menacingly as she looked pointedly at him.

"If your sister came with us, she is either dead or she joined us of her own free will." She looked at him thoughtfully, "Most likely dead if she was like you." She smiled before she whipped out her knife and stuck it into his throat before he could even get a word out.

I flinched as I remembered that I couldn't compromise this mission. I heard him gurgle as I walked pass him and I twisted the ring around my finger a couple of times in guilt as walked past him, mutterin a 'sorry' as I walked past him to catch up with Cristina.

As I did so, I reached up to my com and reported to my superiors, "We got a civilian down. "

_______

I pretty much growled in anger as I saw her enter the building. "It is time to make you pay." I whispered to myself as I jumped onto the building roof softly, ignoring the yelling in my coms as they told me not to engage.

I kicked open a window and followed the hallway to an open area. It was oddly quiet, until I heard a laugh from behind me.

"Agent Brown, I think you underestimated me." She said before she lunged at me will hate-filled eyes.
