I slowly lowered the knife away from Heathers face. "Sorry," I mumble, embarrassed. "It's a habit." She raises an eyebrow at me.
"It's a habit to pull a knife on a random person?" I just shrug and turn away from her so I could pack up my things. What did I do with my- ah there it is. I put the new information into my phone as I continued to think about last night. I ran into some bandits that thought they could get the better of me...I would smirk if Heather wasn't here, otherwise I just look creepy, smirking at nothing.I was pulled out of my thoughts when I noticed Heather was staring at me funny. "What's wrong? Do I have something on my face?" I ask, confused. She blushed.
"N-no. Well, nothing except grime from sleeping out here and all that." She said quickly, only stuttering once.
I pat her lightly on the back. "Well then let's get going, we don't want the others waiting do we?"She stopped in her tracks. I watched as she stared at me weirdly again. This time, though, I think it is because of what I said. I sighed. "Yes, I know the others are looking for me. I do have a phone nowadays."
She nods a little, "Ah okay. At first, I thought you could read minds." She joked.I look at her with the most serious look I can muster, trying not to laugh as I say, "Who says I can't?" Before I run off. I hear here shout at me, but I keep running until I reach the edge of the woods. A few moments later, there's rustling behind me.
I turned to see the Sweaty, out of breath, Heather standing a few feet from me. "You... run...fast.." she gasped, trying to regulate her breathing. "I ran as fast as I could and the farthest I could and I am gasping for air. It doesn't even look like you broke a sweat!" She panted out eventually.
"I do a lot of running." I say.. among other things. She just nods as we started walking back into town. A comfortable silence fell between us, I was actually having a good time just walking around. Until Heather decided to break the silence.
"So...out of all places you go to cool down, you chose the woods. Why?" She sounded genuinely curious and I couldn't help but answer because I didn't want to come off as rude, of course."My parents, my dad specifically, used to take me out to the woods all the time. We would have some peaceful moments out there." I smiled at the memories that flowed through my mind. "Though we probably did scare away any game we were trying to hunt. Dad couldn't be quiet for a long time, he always had a joke up his sleeve, just waiting to be said, or he would want to talk to you about normal stuff, like school and friends." Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Heather staring at me in what looked like...awe? I didn't do anything though...
"Why are you staring at me like that?" I voiced my thoughts before I could even think about it. Whoops, it just kinda....slipped out. She shook her head slightly before smiling at me.
"It's just...I haven't seen you smile like that before." I gave her a confused look.
"You seemed...it looked like a real smile, that time." She answered my unspoken question.I struggled to keep my stotic face in place as I walked quickly in front of her, "Come on, let's get you home."

When we finally get there, I can see Mike and Jesse already there. Uh oh, you're in trouble. Shut up self.
Of course I was in trouble with them, after all, I did pretty much dissapear for a day. If I were them, I would be mad too.Once we got up to them, I gave a small, shy wave as I caught their gazes. "I'm sorry for not coming home last night. I just...needed to think about some stuff." And get some perps that happened to be walking through the woods the same time I was which reminds me... I pulled out my phone, "I will be right back, guys." They nodded warily, well that won't go away anytime soon.
I dialed the number. "Hello?" The deep voice answered.
"I found out where the leaders of the Crescendo group are."
