Hours passed since comforting Adam. I sat in my bed, reflecting on Matilda's motives, and wondering whether I did the right thing or not.
Maybe she was right. Adam did a lot for Chairman Cheng, and Aura Academy! He initiated a defense program, and even went so far to command it. Yet, like the rest of us, he only received minor scholarships, when he deserved more for his dedication and merit. Moving to St. Salia-Claire would remove tons of weight off his shoulders, placed by not just by the chairman, but also the fanclubs, and the students' expectations.
I felt something vibrate underneath my blanket, and picked up the group call.
This late at night, Feng?
"A Level 9, south of the Academy," he heaved. "I'm figuring out the exact coordinates right now. Himeko, we'll all meet up at the Chairman's office, and take an emergency vehicle."
"Aren't the police supposed to help?"
"Correction: magical girls!" Paris giggled. "And superheroes - they help out a lot with these kinds of things, especially when they're off-campus."
I slowly nodded, suited up in casual garments, and headed out. There's no time to waste when lives are on the line!
Wait, what was I thinking?
Years ago, I'd never dare shout that in my head. But now, with the Student Council members' support, and my own decisions, I felt like something clicked into place, like it was meant to be, leading a squadron and all.

Taking Adam's hand, I hopped out of the black van.
"We're near my residence. I hope Mother's alright..."
"No worries," I whispered back, clutching his palm. "We'll see to her safety."
What an empty promise! Two Dark Fog dragons, each half the size of a football field, emerged from the ground. They circled around another, breathing fire and swiping their claws.
"Are they hostile towards each other?" Feng squinted his eyes. "And who are the women inside the Fog?"
"My mother," Adam sighed, rolling back his shoulders. "And also, my grandmother, Matilda." He briefed the boys on what went down in the Chairman's office before summoning a hundred shields and sending them off to nearby civilians.
Surrendering my magic pool once again, I noticed a sparkle in the night sky. "A magical girl," Paris explained. "And it seems like it's Blue Lotus this time! Her makeup's doing alright."
Seconds later, the rest of the members appeared, with their frilly dresses and all. We watched them initiate an attack on the fearsome beasts; their colorful beams, against the dark sky, reminded me of glow-in-the-dark sticks.
