The rest of the day was kind of a blur. You sat in your room. You could cry so hard but you just didn't want to. You didn't know why you haven't cried. Maybe it was for the best that he was leaving? No! That's insane! Why would you even think of that? He was the best thing that ever happened to you. You lay flat on your back on your bed staring at the ceiling. you hear a knock from downstairs. Secretly hoping it was Bill, you hurried downstairs.

You opened the door to see Richie on your front porch.

Y/n: umm... hey Rich...

He looked sad. He was never sad. You knew what it was about.

Richie lifted his glasses farther up his nose.

Y/n: you wanna... come in?

He nods lightly.

Richie: yeah um... that would be great.

You invite him into the house.

You both sit down on the opposite couches of the living room.

There was an awkward silence.

Finally, Richie spoke up.

Richie: y-...y'know... we're all still gonna be friends... right?

Y/n: I know. It just won't be the same.

Richie: I know... I mean... who am I supposed to go to the arcade with now?

Y/n: you know I got your back on that one Rich...

He lets out a small grin.

Richie: yeah... thanks.

He pushes his glasses up.

There was another silence.

Richie: but let me get to the point here... I haven't felt very close with the others lately... and I feel like... I dunno... Bill leaving might just... ya know... drift us apart?

It suddenly hit you. He wasn't wrong.

Y/n: but Richie... I don't want us to spilt apart. We're all supposed to be best friends no matter what!

Richie: I don't want it either. But hey. That doesn't mean we can't be friends...

You smile at him.

Richie: so whadya say... movie tomorrow? Just you and me?

You stopped and thought about Bill for a second. You took a glance at Richie.

I mean it's not like you would ever date Richie or anything so... why not?

You nod and smile.

He suddenly looks happier.

Richie leaves and you go back to your room.

The thought of all of you splitting up was upsetting. You didn't want that.

That evening, you ate your dinner quickly.

Mom: why the rush?

Y/n: oh! No reason!

You shovel more and more spaghetti into your mouth.

Your father gives you a suspicious stare.

Y/n: thanks for dinner! I'm going to the park!

You quickly shove your plate in the sink and slip on your shoes.

Mom: woah woah woah! not so fast there young lady! You haven't even done your homework!

Y/n: sorry what was that?

You jump outside, closing the door behind you.

You quickly jump onto your bike and start pedalling down the road as fast as you could.

You knew you would be grounded when you got home later for various reasons but this was totally worth it.

You pedal faster and pull out your walkie talkie.

Y/n: group meeting! Meet up at the park in 5!
