Candy

A blonde woman stared down at her laptop, sitting in the middle of the New York Film University.

She was trying to write a meaningful screenplay, something that would make people think, make them float away from the distractions of the world.

We all have our lives to bear, our bags to burden, and she wanted to temporarily take them away.

But, as she soon began to realize, the world didn't care. They couldn't survive on candy, yet they tried.

Our race was becoming a bunch of idiots, with nothing on their mind but red carpet rides. She wanted to take them away, but not the way the press did.

She wanted to die at every mention of celebrity. "Who's doing who?" "What is that outfit?" littered every News Channel or website. In the end, none of that would help our economy, our lifestyle, or our evolution.

She glanced at her boyfriend, with his white grin, and his shaggy hair. Nicholas, the teen heart throb of the world. He was signing things, which made her grimace. She was in "People" magazine just for dating him. And to think, they had started out together on this journey of life.

They both wanted to change the world, he would act, and she would write. They were a duo of legends, who could change everything with a few words.

But then Nicholas got cast on an ABC family sitcom, and everything changed. Everyone loved him, but no one saw her. It wasn't Nicholas and Aubrey, it was Nicholas and that random blonde writer who appears to be dating him.

That broke her heart. Nicholas trusted the world now, but she was still the same. She still hated the direction humanity was heading in.

She closed her laptop, and pulled out the note she had been preparing for the past week.

"Nicholas,

We continue to buy and wear the plastic version of love, hope, and understanding. And in the end, we can't survive on Candy. Go date your costar, Taylor, okay? It will work out better in the end."

She placed it on top of his phone, put her laptop away, and set out to try her best to make a difference in a world without hope.
