The Way You Look Tonight

The man arrived at the large ballroom. He hated these functions; rich people showing off just how rich they were. Of course, he was rich too, but he made his millions off of hard work and years of poverty.

He looked around the room, observing who he should attempt to avoid in their drunken state. His eyes stopped at one woman standing at the back of the room. Her red hair stood out against the other people here. None of them had hair that color. Her gray eyes sparkled when she turned her head towards him.

He was about to go over to her and ask for a dance, but he was interrupted by a business partner and his daughter. Many businessmen were trying to marry of their daughters to him in hopes of being with his company, but he always declined. He wanted to find true love for himself.

The man waved the pair off and continued to walk towards the mysterious woman, but she was gone. Across the room, he caught a glimpse of her bright hair and made a beeline towards it. Once he caught up to her, she smiled.

"I thought you'd never come to me," she said, her voice strangely low for a woman.

"Well, with the way you look tonight, how could I resist?" I replied. I felt a glow just thinking of her. She smiled again. It was the warmest smile. I usually didn't believe in love at first sight, but for tonight I could make an exception.

The woman laughed, and her nose wrinkled. My foolish heart skipped a beat at the sound. Maybe it was the buzz I had gotten from the champagne, or maybe I was just falling in love with this woman.

"Let's go outside, shall we?" She suggested. I followed her out to the balcony until she stopped at the edge. She leaned over the short wall keeping her from falling and turned to me.

I walked closer to her until our foreheads touched and I could feel her breath on my throat. I heard her breath catch, and I moved away.

"You're lovely, with your smile so warm, and your cheeks so soft. There is nothing for me but to love you, and the way you look tonight."
