I was running late.

Like always, I had a set time that I needed to be somewhere, but where was I? Asleep in bed. God, I need to get to sleep earlier.
TO BE FAIR! I normally don't work on Saturday Mornings, I usually just work weekday evenings, so this was different for me. Saturday's are the days I get to relax, no work, no classes. It's a luxury day; catch up on needed sleep, actually eat three meals, maybe even wear a face mask or take my makeup off before bed!

I was a hot mess.

Tonight I had tickets to a Panic! At the Disco concert. After working weeks and spending a lot of money at my part time job, I finally saved up enough to go.
The concert itself was about 4 hours away, so as soon as I got off work I would need to rush home to get ready. My things were packed last night, so I wouldn't need to scramble too much.

"Isabell," my boss was tapping her foot as I entered the building "Would you care to explain why you're late?"

"I'm sorry Miss Katie! My car wouldn't start!" I lied. She stared at the iced coffee in my hand. "I overslept.."

"Coming in late AND lying, great job. Get to work." She pointed to the daycare room and walked back to her office.
I wasn't a huge fan of children, but this daycare paid big bucks. So I worked evenings while parents would go to the gym or go on dates, or whatever parents would do. Watched their kids, gave them snacks and had mini dance parties. The older ones were pretty chill, and the little ones were adorable, so there wasn't too many issues with them. I actually grew attached to most of these kids. No kids were here yet, as parents didn't drop them off until about 9 am, and it was only 8:30. I'd have a good half hour to relax and get excited about tonight before any children showed up.

And so they did.
One by one they piled into the door, greeting me with my actual name instead of my preferred "Isabell"

"Good morning Miss Monday!" A little girl smiled, she lost a tooth I could see. Her smile was extra wide. She messed with the bows on her pigtails while waiting for me to give her the reaction she wanted.
"You lost a tooth!" I sounded as enthusiastic as possible this early in the morning "sweet!"
She rocked on her heels and giggled before running off to go play with the other children.
They weren't very young, only elementary age, so they mostly just interacted with each other on Saturdays; playing with blocks or reading to themselves. I just got to sit here and relax, play some clean music (hopefully some clean versions of panic) and get pumped up for tonight's concert.

This was going to be a special night.
I could just feel it.
