Two Years Later

I slumped down in my chair in my office as I stared blankly at the computer in front of me.

A year ago Namjoon started having me do some of the work with running the company, since I'll eventually have to take over for him.

I pushed back in my chair and spun around a few times. I stopped when I heard a knock on my door. "Come in." I stood up and pretended like I wasn't just acting like a child.

Namjoon slowly opened the door and stepped in. Strange, he looks happy. "Taehyung." He nodded towards me. "What do you think about the idea of mating?"

I sat back down in my chair, a little confused. "What are you saying?" He stepped up and sat down in front of my desk and tossed a Manila folder in my direction.

"We've gotten a call from the Jung family," something in my brain sparked at the mention of Jung, but I can't put my finger on where I heard it from. "They're living in poverty, the only money they have is used to send their son to school."

I opened the file and began flipping through the I formation of the Jung family. "The father called this morning in desperation, they want to sell their daughter to us as a mate for a small sum of money so they can get back on their feet." He sat back in his chair with a look in his eye, one I knew very well.

"So they're selling their daughter to be my mate?" I flipped through the files until I got to the images.

"We had Yoongi go to the house and take pictures of the family. He told us that the house they were in, was condemned a year ago."

I tuned him out as I studied each photo.

The father was a Beta, slightly underweight, dark hair, pale skin, tall, and blue eyes.

The mother was also a Beta, underweight, light brown hair, slightly darker skin than the father, she was short, and she had dark brown eyes.

The eldest child was a Beta as well, he was tall, looked well fed, he had black hair, and darker skin like his mother.

The youngest child shocked me when I saw her photo.

She was extremely malnourished, she had long silver hair that ran down to the backs of her knees, pale skin like her father, short stature like her mother, and blue-grey eyes.

I set the photos down on top of the files and looked up at Joon. "They starved her?" I asked, pointing at the picture of the youngest child.

He nodded. "They said that they fed her well, but when Yoongi was there he said that she was very fearful towards the mother and clung to her brother."

"Was she abused?" I pushed.

"We never got confirmation of it, but the signs show it." He sighed. "Yoongi said while he was there, she had dark purple bruises all over her legs and arms, and the fact that she was extremely malnourished- more-so than the rest of the family."

"Like they starved her." I finished. Namjoon nodded and looked away. "Why would they starve and abuse their daughter?" I stood up and walked over to the window."

I heard Joon mutter an "I don't know" quietly. Then I got an idea. "What rank is she?"

"Pardon?"

"What rank is the daughter?" I turned back to the files and rummages through the information on the family.

"The father told us she was a Beta, but the way she cowered away and clung to her brother told us she was an Omega."

It all made sense. The starvation, the abuse, her fear, the fact she clung to her brother.

"They abused her because she's an Omega. They starved her because she's an Omega. They're selling her because she's an Omega. They only see her as nothing, not an Omega, nothing. They treat her like nothing, they probably told her she was nothing."

Namjoon pulled me into a hug to calm my nerves. "It's okay Taehyung."

"I'll do it."

Joon pulled back. "What?"

"I'll do it." I repeated. "I'll accept the deal and take her as my mate."

Joon nodded and dialed a number on his phone.

Twenty minutes later

I get into my car and punch in the given address of the Jung family before pulling out of the driveway and out onto the highway.

It was quite a distance away from my place, over in the bad side of town.

Once I pulled up close to the house, I saw a woman bolt into the house and start yelling. Strange.

I parked in front of the driveway and stepped out of my car, making my way up to the front door. I knocked lightly and a man soon answered the door.

"Mr. Kim! Wait right here, she's getting her things." The father disappeared behind the door. Quite skittish for a Beta...

I heard rustling behind the door so I slowly pushed it open to see the worst living conditions I've seen in my life. I pushed it out of my head as three figures emerged from a hallway to my left.

"Here is your mate Mr. Kim." The mother shoved the daughter forward.

I kept a poker face, Joon said they could take her and run if I was nice. I grabbed the girl by the wrist and picked up her suitcase and turned towards the door. "You'll have your money by the end of the day."

I pulled her out the door and shut it behind me. Joon told me to be cold and stern until I brought her home, he said to hide my inner Omega.

As I driver her to her new home, I heard her soft cries over the sound of the highway. It broke my heart that someone would treat their own child like this, nothing but property.

She'll be safe, nobody can hurt her anymore.
