<><><><>I kept my head low as I sped-walked down the sidewalk in the poorer part of town. I picked up the pace as the sun got lower and lower in the sky. Only minutes later I was reaching the edge of this neighborhood when I noticed a figure up ahead on the sidewalk. It looked like a person huddled next to a bush.
I slowed down a bit and paused about 5 feet away from the huddled figure and slowly sat down on my heels. "Hello?" I asked just above a whisper. Its head shot up and stared at me in pure terror, I recognized the face. Hoseok's little sister.
"W-who are you?" She was only wearing an old t-shirt and a skirt.
"My name is Taehyung, are you Angel?" I asked quietly.
Her eyes widened for a moment. "Y-Yeah...h-how did you k-know that?" Her voice shook as her body did from the cold of the night.
"Your brother was in my class last year, Hoseok right?" I slowly pulled off my jacket and held it out to her. "Take this, I'll walk you home."
She reluctantly took the jacket and draped it over her shoulders as she shakily rose to her feet, she almost fell over- that's when I noticed the bruises on her arms and legs.
I ignored it because she already seemed nervous around me, so I just lightly draped an arm over her shoulder to help stabilize her. "Where do you live?"
She took a moment to regain her balance before looking straight ahead. "Two blocks down." She deadpanned. I nodded and started walking her home.
Not even half a block later she fell forward as she grabbed onto my shoulder for support. "I-I don't think I can walk..."
I leaned in close to her face. "Can I carry you?"
She looked up shocked for a minute before nodding. I slid my arm under her knees and scooped her into my arms. Damn, she's so light...
Five minutes later, I set her down at the doorstep of her house, it's not a bad place, but that doesn't mean it's good either. It looks about a month away from being condemned.
I reached up and knocked lightly on the withering brown door and stepped back. Thundering footsteps rushed to the door and it flew open to reveal Hoseok standing there with tear marks down his cheeks.
"Angel!" He exclaimed as he threw himself into his sister's arms and hugged her tight. "Please...don't leave me like that again." He looked up at me and mouthed a quick "thank you" before looking down at his sister.
She turned around d quickly and whispered a quick thank you before running up and hugged me. "Thank you for bringing me home." She pulled back and smiled.
I swear to you, I wasn't high or drunk or anything- but I saw her clothes change to a pink silk nightie and her figure grow a little taller, then back to normal in the blink of an eye.
"Taehyung!"
I shot up in bed and looked next to me, that girl's scream still vivid in my head. The hell did I just dream? I slid my hand over the comforter, as if something was missing.
Who was that...?
And why do I remember her voice from somewhere?
