Peeta went on business to district 2. Gale called Katniss needing to hear get voice again after all these years. She'd written him several times but he never wrote back. His fingers shook as he dialed the number. Katniss answered the phone thinking it was Peeta since the caller I.D read district 2.
"Peeta?" It depressed Gale to hear get voice.
"Peeta, I'm-I'm pregnant."
"I'm not Peeta." Gale hung up.
Later that day, Gale hung himself. When Katniss was his body on the news she wept but it's the message Gale craved into the tree before he hung himself that unhinged her.
Katniss, are you coming to the hanging tree?
Was craved into the trunk of the tree.
