IV. Liquor Lies

Ed pulled a chair from the table. "Here, have a seat Dale."

"Thanks." Maymay took the seat, grimacing inwardly as she heared him use the made up nickname she provided him.

Well at least it is still part of my real name though. Not really a lie.

Ed on the other hand sat on the chair opposite to hers. They decided to just go to a nearby outdoor pub upon his suggestion.

"I didn't know that there's this kind of bar in here. Akala ko puro club lang ang meron." She mused in amazement while looking around. "And they even feature live bands! That's awesome."

The place is located at the beach front, though in an area where swimming is not allowed. It is hardly noticeable from where she intitally checked.

He nodded. "Yeah. I was surprised when I first saw this place too. Pretty much a hidden gem, that I actually discovered it on the second day of my stay here in Pagudpud. And mind you, hindi pa sinasadya." Then explained with a chuckle.

Seeing his reaction, she suddenly became curious on how did he find it in the first place.

So she asked. "Bakit what happened?" Ok lang naman sigurong magtanong di ba? We're friends already right?

He looked at her for a moment. Seemingly contemplating whether to tell or not.

"Alright I will tell you, but promise me that you won't laugh okay?"

"Deal." She agreed enthusiastically.

"Well basically, I was looking for a place to clean my......uhmnnn 'behind' because...uhmm I accidentally pooped on my shorts dahil sa sobrang kalasingan." He narrated casually.

Stunned, she just stared at him for a couple of seconds before bursting into hysterical laughs.

"Hahaha....oh my gosh I'm sorry...hahaha....so....sorry....but that was just...hilarious...hahaha!"

"Hey you promised!" He dramatically clutched his chest to fake a shock.

"Sorry....hahaha I can't help it....I'm sor....hahahahaha!" Her hands flew on her now aching stomach.

Meanwhile Ed, whose eyes never left her face, smiled.

Oh what a sight. He thought as he marvelled in the beauty right before his eyes.

For the next moments he just let her be until Maymay finally calmed down.

She cleared her throat then."I'm sorry Ed. I broke my promise. It was just too...." She stiffled another giggle.

"Hmp. Nope sorry is not enough."

She eyed him in alarm.

"You owe me a meal for that." He dropped.

"Ahhh." She blurted, feeling relieved that he is not seriously pissed at her. "Sus yun lang pala eh, sure!" Then she called in the waiter. "Oh order na. Anything you want ako bahala."

"Ah okay." He chuckled, attempting to mask his sudden disappointment.

He was actually thinking of using that opportunity as an excuse to see her again.

Great. Busted even before I hit start. He thought wryly.

Moments later and the waiter finally arrived at their table. Maymay insisted to Ed that he first take his order while she's checking the menu.

"I'll have a platter of sizzling gambas, pork sisig and a bottle of beer please." He told the waiter.

"Sakin naman one spicy buffalo wings, please make it super spicy kuya ah, and hmnnn one lechon kawali. Tapos yung beer niya paki one bucket na." She followed.

The waiter repeated their orders. "Anything else you want to add sir, ma'am?"

"We'll let you know later." She answered.

"Ok po. I'll be right back with your order. Have a nice evening." The waiter replied with a polite smile then finally left their table.

On that moment, Ed abruptly faced her.

"Hey lady, why order a bucket? Aren't you trying to get sober? Kaya nga tayo lumabas ng club di ba?" He croaked in disbelief.

But she only chuckled. "Relax sir, I'm already sober. Kanina pa simula no'ng hinatak ako ni Mr. Jackass sa club. Don't worry I'm fine. I can very well handle my liquor." The last sentence was obviously a lie.

He eyed her suspiciously.

"Seryoso. Gusto mo contest pa tayo eh." She bluffed.

"Nah, I'll pass." He waved his hand dismissively. "Just don't pass out on me and everything's cool, okay?"

She laughed. "Got it."
