You've got to be kidding me! Maymay mentally screamed.

How on earth is Ed, the guy whom she's just trying to forget, turned out to be her new boss all of a sudden?

Oh kill me!

"Eherm...eherm." Mr. Escolte cleared his throat which made her snapped out of it.

Her eyes fell back on Ed's hand that is still waiting in the air. She swallowed nervously before finally accepted the handshake.

"It was nice to meet you as well sir." She mused, grateful that her voice didn't crack with it.

Edward's smile widened. His eyes are sparkling with amusement as he looked at her obviously surprised reaction.

"O siya. I shall go. I still have to prepare some papers for the chairwoman." Mr. Escolte suddenly interjected again. Then he turned to Maymay. "Ms. Entrata please help Mr. Barber with everything that he doesn't know still. I'll leave you to it."

"Yes...sir." She wanted to smack herself for stuttering after succesfully holding back until that.

Mr. Escolte's brows furrowed a little, confused as to why the confident and reliable employee Marydale Entrata seem to turned unsure of herself all of a sudden. Nonetheless, he didn't pry any further. He just assumed that it's  probably only the jitters of meeting the new boss. After all, he couldn't deny that Edward John Barber could easily give off an intimidating impression at first.

With that he just said his good bye then and finally left the room.

It was quite awhile already after Mr. Escolte left but neither Edward nor Maymay was able to utter a single word still. He is wating for her to say something first while on the other hand, she doesn't know what the heck to say to him.

Should she thank him for saving her from that blonde jerk? Apolgize for leaving him without saying anything the next morning? Or just be professional and talk to him as if Ilocos never happened.

In the end, with a sigh, she decided to go with the third option.

"Uhm shall we go to your office sir? Please see if it suits to your preference then tell me if you have anything you wanted to remove or replace." She told him then mustered towards his office.

But he quickly but gently grabbed her in the wrist though, making her halt.

"Dale I......" He started saying but she quickly cut him off.

"Sir please...." This time she looked at him straight in the eye, opposite of what she's been doing since earlier. "......in here address me as Maymay, like what everybody else has been doing. People might make an issue about it if you call me by my second name."

"But that was the name that you......." He attempted to reason only to end up being interrupted again.

"And please let's just forget everything about Ilocos shall we? That's what I'm trying to do ever since I came back here in Manila. So I'm asking you, just don't bring it up again. Please." She begged quietly.

For the next couple of moments he just looked at her intently. After, with a muted sigh, he eventually let go of her wrist.

"But why?" Then he asked. "Why do you want to forget it?" His face and tone suddenly turned emotionless.

She averted his gaze.

"Everything that happened in Ilocos is a mistake. I should be more careful and responsible of my own body. There's no one to blame but myself." She replied.

"Is that what you really think of all of it? A mistake?" He asked.

She didn't understand the pain that seemingly laid on his voice at that though.

She breathed. "Yes. So please let's just treat each other professionally and pretend that it never happened." She met his gaze once again before mouthing, "Sir."

This time he didn't say anything. He only looked at her with an unfathomable expression on his face and then,

"Fine. If that's what you want. He answered coldly then walked over to his office.

She didn't understand either why all of a sudden, she feels regret for asking him that favor.
