"I don't want to go to school" I groaned.
"You have to." My mother rolled her eyes.
"Maybe you'll actually get a girlfriend" my little brother, josh smirked.
"Just wait till you get a boyfriend" I laughed.
"Mom are you ever gonna get a girlfriend?" josh asked as innocently as a 6 year old can get.
"I'm not looking at the moment josh, now eat your toast." She became nervous.
"How come my birthday is far away from all the other kids?" He whined.
"Mine is too" I muttered, picking up the pill my mom set on the table, the pill is to make us forget our feelings of the opposite gender, making us attracted to our own.
"Why?" he looked around the room, like he'd find an answer written on the wall.
"I missed breeding season" my mom shrugged.
I bit my lip in anger, she didn't miss breeding season, she's going to burn in hell for what she did.
Marrying a man.
"If anybody asks your birthday is June 15th, alright?" she looked at josh.
He nodded his head and continued to eat.
"And yours, Kate, is-" I cut her off,
"August 7th. I know." I rolled my eyes.
I pulled on my teal blue beanie that matched my vans, grabbed my backpack and left for school.
I saw a girl who looked to be around my age walk along the sidewalk. Her long blonde hair shined in the morning sun, josh pushed me from behind,
"Is that your new girlfriend?" he teased, running down the driveway.
Josh tripped and skinned his knee, my first reaction was to politely step over him and continue my day but he was crying so I had to.
His over-dramatic sobs caught the girls attention, she ran over and knelt down next to me.
"You're alright josh." I attempted to hush his tears.
"Here" the girl handed me a bandaid that she pulled out of her backpack.
"Thanks" I smiled, putting Josh's bandaid on.
He sat up and wiped his tears.
"Thank you for the bandaid" he mumbled softly to the girl.
"Anytime." She smiled and got up, I pulled josh up and we continued our walk to school.
"I'm Blare by the way" she smiled.
"Kate." I blushed, Blare had the most beautiful green eyes i had ever seen.
"I'm guessing you're new because I haven't seen a pretty face in a while" she laughed quietly.
Was she actually flirting with me?! oh my gosh!!
"Awe," I laughed. "I moved in around July. I used to live in dansville" I shrugged.
"Well, Wallworth must seem like a huge upgrade." She laughed.
"Tell me about it. I can walk outside and not have a fear of being gunned down by a hetero"
Blare laughed, "you're funny yah know"
"It happens" I smiled.
"Do you know where any of your classes are?" she seemed nervous.
"Nope," I laughed, "you?"
"No idea. I missed freshman orientation" she frowned.
"That's alright. We can find them together then. Let me see your schedule" I smiled.
I scanned out schedules..
"We have, English, band, lunch, and biology together" I smiled, her frown instantly perked up.
As we approached the top of the hill, we saw Wallworth West high school waiting for all the freshman to potentially kill.
"I'm scared. I don't want to do this." Blare shrieked.
"You'll be fine. We have first hour together and the rest of the classes is seems like we can walk to together."
"How do you know?" she looked at me with a confused look in her eyes.
"The mailed me this map of the school, I was thinking it would come in handy" I laughed awkwardly.
"You're my savor!" she laughed as she flung her arms around my neck and pulled me close, the hug seemed to linger a second longer than it should've.
