Second hour, algebra, was probably going to be the most boring class on earth. I didn't know anyone and most of the girls weren't too interesting. A few guys introduced themselves and they invited me to sit with them.

We were working in groups on a review from eight grade packet when a girl with short black hair tapped me on the shoulder.

"You're Kate, right?" she smirked.

"Uh yeah. I guess I am." I laughed awkwardly.

"I'm Peyton. It's nice to meet you" she readjusted her hair and sat down at the empty seat next to me.

"So you're new here?" she asked.

"Um yeah. Moved here in July, I didn't really go outside much though because I was remodeling my room so you probably didn't see me." I laughed awkwardly.

"That's alright. So you and blare..?"

"Oh. Um, I don't know. I'd definitely love to but I don't know if she's into me. And I just met her, you know?"

"Yeah I understand" she shrugged, with a smile peeled across her face.

There was an awkward silence so I pretended to go back to reviewing pre-algebra.

"Brandon, are you coming to my pool party this weekend?" she snickered.

The tall, muscular brunette turned around and smiled,

"As long as Matt's going." He smiled and ruffled the hair of the guy who was sitting next to him, I assumed that was Matt.

"Of course! I wouldn't invite you without bringing your boyfriend!"

Matt smiled at Brandon, it was obvious they shared a connection, and quite frankly, it was adorable.

"Bridget, you and Mads can come too!" Peyton smiled at a girl with red hair sitting a few rows behind us.

"Ill pass it on to Mads" Bridget replied.

"Oh Kate, you can come too!"

"It's it more of a couple thing? because I'm kind of.. single" I laughed awkwardly.

"Oh that's alright! I'm single too!" she smirked.

"Get me the details after class" I shrugged.

"Don't you text?" she stopped me from continuing my work which kind of annoyed me.

"Not really. I don't see the need, I'm single and I just moved here so I don't have friends."

"Ill change that" she smiled.

"My single situation or my friend situation..?" I became kind of creeped out.

"Umm. Ill talk to you later." She got up and practically ran back across the room to her seat.

"She wants you" Brandon whispered to me.

"No she doesn't!" I gasped.

"Yeah! why do you think she invited you?!"

"..I-I thought she was trying to be my friend.." I felt extremely unwanted at that moment and I felt like crying.

"Almost every single girl in our freshman class has heard about you! half of them already started drooling over you"

"He's right." Matt chimed in, pointing his finger in a direction behind me.

I turned around to see a group of three girls looking at me. They automatically looked away when I attempted to make eye contact and they blushed.

"That's why guys and girls are meant to be friends." Brandon laughed.

"Tell me about it" I rolled my eyes. The bell rang and I stuffed the packet into my folder and headed into the crowded hallway.

"To history" I mumbled to myself and I quickly glanced at the map in my hands. I met Blare at the history room where she was talking to a guy, just about to leave.

"Hey" she smiled.

"Hi." I groaned.

"This is Blake. And are you having a bad day?" she frowned.

"Don't get me started. Ill tell you at lunch." I groaned and headed to my seat.

"Alright. See ya!" she smiled and left the room.

That's why guys and girls are meant to be friends. Brandon's words lingered in my head until the bell rang which completely scared the shit out of me, I jumped in my seat.

"Scared much?" A guy laughed, sitting down next to me.

"I was completely not in this world." I laughed.

"I'm Cody." He reached his hand out so I could shake it.

"Kate" I smiled politely.

"I'm really excited for this history class" he smiled.

"Why?"

"I heard were gonna learn about heterosexual pasts."

I gasped, "you're kidding?!"

"I'm legit dude!"

"Now you got me excited man!" I squealed, I've always wanted to learn about it.

When I was in elementary school, whenever girls and guys being married came up, mostly when a kid accidentally told about his hetero parents, they would move away before I could ask any questions.

"I'm mr.Wattson." The teacher smiled.

"The rumors are true. This semester you will be learning about heterosexual-ism in our past and also when men finally gained rights."

Most of the class cheered.

A shorter girl towards the front of the class raised her hand.

"Why is straight marriage so bad?"

"You must be straight!" a boy yelled.

"That's so straight!" another chimed in.

Images of my father appeared in my mind.

Mr. Wattson attempted to calm the class and the class became silent when I raised my hand.

"Yes?" he asked.

"Just because she supports it doesn't mean she is straight. If someone is straight they can get a straight marriage if they want and they can burn in hell." I shrugged.

"God hates straights!" a kid yelled.

"Oh hush up" I groaned, "can't you see he's trying to teach here?!"

The class fell silent, and Mr. Wattson returned to his speech.

After class the shorter girl caught up to me.

"Hey, thanks for saving me back there." She smiled awkwardly.

"I seem to have that effect on people" I laughed, she looked confused.

"Long story," I laughed, "I'm Kate by the way"

"Megan" she smiled, "where are you headed?"

"Spanish" I mumbled.

"Oh. Nevermind" she laughed.

"Yeah well ill see you around." I smiled and headed down the hallway, searching for my Spanish class.

Blare stopped me in the hallway, she looked terrified.

"What's wrong?!" I asked nervously.

"Where's French class?!" she groaned.

"Guess." I laughed.

"Oh" she laughed, she must've realized the large painting with French writing on it that hung right next to the door.

"You're welcome sweetheart" I laughed as we went our separate ways.
