(2) Come With Me

It had been 3 years since Lindsey started working for Bucky she was in the middle of taking notes during a finance meeting. When her husband came into the building and told the receptionist he was there to see her that it was about to be her lunch.

Shari tried to call her desk phone but because she was in the meeting with the CEOs and the finance department she didn't know. Then as she was typing notes Shari sent her a message through the in office messenger program. She read the message and then typed to Shari "In a meeting can't go to lunch today." 

Shari looked up and said "Sorry Mr Baxter she's in a meeting with the bosses. She said that she can't go to lunch today." 

"Okay just tell her we will talk when she gets home." Lucas said

"Okay" Shari said and typed that back to her as he walked away. 

After her day was over from work she drove home to their apartment. She walked in and said "Lucas baby I'm home." 

"In the kitchen." he said 

"Hey baby sorry about earlier." she said 

"Here I came to give you these." he said as he hands her a blue envelope. 

"Lucas.." she said as she opened them and she gasped.

Lucas said "Lindsey we aren't who we were I'm sorry I'm just not in love with you anymore I already packed up my stuff you can have the apartment I'm moving back to my parents." 

She wiped tears then said "Oh.. so there's no working this out." 

"I'm sorry Linds." he said 

She pulled a pen out of her bag and signed them and said "Well then here you go." as she hands them to him and then walked to her bedroom and cried. 

Lucas looked down and said "Goodbye Lindsey." and walked out with the papers. 

The next morning she got herself up and ready for work and tried her best to hold it together. She was at her desk when Bucky came in and said "Morning Lindsey." 

She forced a smile and said "Morning Mr Barnes." then followed him into his office and handed him the messages that were left on the phone when she came in. 

"Lindsey.." he said as she was about to walk out. 

She stopped and he said "Everything okay?'

"Yeah everything is fine' she said as she was about to walk back out. 

"Lindsey." he said as he hit the button on his desk that shut his office door then he walked over to her. 

He lifted her chin "Something's wrong. You aren't normally like this you have worked for me for 3 years you normally have a bigger smile than what you gave me out there and you normally have smart ass remark as well." he said 

She said "Don't worry about it." 

"Lindsey you can talk to me just because I'm your boss doesn't mean that you can't talk to me. We have a great professional relationship you are probably the only PA I have had since we started this business almost 10 years ago that has stayed this long and besides you know stuff about me that not everyone knows and I greatly appreciate that you don't run your mouth." he said 

She looked down then he pulled her over to his desk as he leaned against it and said "So talk to me." 

She swallowed hard and said "I would greatly appreciate it if you could just give me something to do that will keep me and my mind busy so I don't have to think about the fact that my husband decided to leave me last night and already had papers drawn up when I got home last night. I'm no longer Lindsey Baxter I'm Lindsey Hamilton." as tear drops fell.
