The couples were having fun, catching up and having food around the table, laughing and telling stories, it was all going ordinarily well, but not until the door bell went off.
Hyunjin stood up, went to the door and swing it open to meet a woman, dressed in fancy clothes, "May I help you?"
"I'm here to see my son," She replied, "Felix."
Hyunjin was sceptical about it so he excused himself for a moment and rushed to the kitchen, "Felix?" Everyone turned their heads to Hyunjin's worried face, "Your mother is here."
Everyone in the room froze while Felix only had a blank expression on his face, he placed down his utensils and stood up, "You can let her in," Felix said blankly.
Everyone exchanged a worried look but then they let Felix be, Hyunjin let Felix's foster mother in and wait in the living area while Felix entered the room afterwards, the others staying in the kitchen to give them privacy.
"Yongbok," the woman uttered as she looked up at the freckled young man.
"Why are you here, Chunhye?" Felix coldly asked and it made he woman frown in return to the sound of her name instead of the honorific she expected.
"Can't I see my son?" Chunhye stood up and spread her arms for a hug, this never happened in the past, so why would Felix let it happen?
Felix shook his head and waved her off, "Foster son," Felix remarked, "You adopted me, remember?"
Chunghye sighed and approached Felix, only to let Felix step back, "Do you have a girlfriend now?"
Felix chewed on his bottom lip and shook his head, Chunghye narrowed her eyes, "Look at you, twenty-one and still on your obsession with music," she scoffed.
"It's not an obsession, Chunghye!"
The others heard the yelling and turned their heads to the direction of the kitchen, "That's Felix." Chan worriedly said, his legs telling him to stand up but he hesitated a bit. He stayed glued on his seat.
"It's what I love," Felix huffed, tears dreading to fall from the brim of his eyes but he fought them back, "and you have nothing to do about it!"
Chunghye didn't hesitate and slapped Felix across his face, making the male turn his head to the right, touching his cheek afterwards as he glared at the woman before him, "You're not my mother."
"I gave you everything you would have wanted and needed--" "But you never gave me freedom or even your love!" Felix snapped, "You left me with those maids and butlers, never let me have friends and lock me up in a room and let me out when you would only allowed me to, like a prisoner," Felix yelled from the bottom of his heart and his friends and boyfriend heard it, alerting them at the same time, "You even treated me like lower than dirt when you found out that I was gay!"
Chan stood up, not minding if his chair had fallen backwards after his sudden action of standing up, and ran towards the living area, the others following him.
When they reached the living area, Felix had already left there and was already out of the house, leaving the door wide open and his foster mother left in flares.
"Where is Felix?" Chan asked furiously, but the woman just rolled her eyes and was about to walk out of the house but Hyunjin grabbed her by the elbow, stopping her.
"Chan-hyung, go after Felix!" Changbin said and Chan dashed out of the door, not minding the coldness of winter, he followed the footprints on the snow that lead to a playground and found a freckled figure shivering like a leaf as he rubbed his arms to seek for warmth.
Felix's eyes were all red and puffy and his cheeks were already tear-soaked, he sniffled at how his foster mother would barge in and just insult him at Christmas day.
His fingers were all starting to feel numb because of the bitter cold winter and it didn't help when the wind rushed in, he cursed for not having to wear anything warm.
Chan ran to Felix and slowed down and approached the younger before taking him in his arms, giving him his own warmth, tangling his warm fingers with Felix's cold ones.
Felix sighed in relief and turned to hug Chan back, gripping the older's jacket and burying his face into Chan's chest, "I was so worried about you, Felix, don't run away like that."
Felix started to sob, "I'm so sorry, I'm sorry," he uttered over again but Chan hushed him and kissed the top of the younger's head.
"It's not your fault, baby," he rubbed the younger's back gently, "and it was brave of you to speak your mind to your foster mum, you're okay now."
I wish my mother was still alive, so that she can let you feel what kind of love from a mother would feel. I am here now, then I will give you that kind of love that you have longed for.
