Spotted Puppy

"Hyung, you sure that it's okay if we don't use fireworks for new year?" Jeongin asked as he and Felix went to buy some fire crackers.

Felix nodded, but his eyes focused on the variety of firecrackers and sparklers, "Hyunjin said that fireworks may be dangerous if we don't do it right, so we just buy sparklers."

Felix and Jeongin had already bought less dangerous, yet cool firecrackers, and were already heading back to Hyunjin's house, it was the eve of New Year, and everyone that were gathered up in Hyunjin's house were out except for Hyunjin and Changbin, who were preparing the food.

Chan and Seungmin were out to buy some noise makers and some drinks for their little party.

Felix and Jeongin just got out of a coffee shop since it was chilly and they needed something to warm them up, and just a few blocks away as they walked, Jeongin saw a brown spotted puppy in the middle of the street.

Dropping the bags of things that they bought, he ran up to the street and picked up the puppy.

"Jeongin!" Felix called, "Get back here!"

The two young men heard a honking of a vehicle and it was heading towards Jeongin and the puppy in his arms. Jeongin could've ran away and avoided the vehicle, but then he froze in his place in fright.

But as the vehicle was coming closer, Felix dropped the bags of firecrackers, jolted to where Jeongin was and pushed him away. Letting the said vehicle hit him instead, knocking him out easily.

"Felix-hyung!" Jeongin ran to Felix's body, the puppy running right beside him, Jeongin knelt beside Felix's injured and bleeding body.

Felix's eyes were still open, but they were coming to a blur as seconds passed by, "Hyung! Hyung, look at me, we'll get you to the hospital!" Jeongin said as he shakily took out his phone and pressed 911.

Everything went black after a quick five seconds of blurry eye sight.

"Is he alright, doc?" Chan asked first before the others as they saw the doctor exit the emergency room.

The doctor sighed and removed his glasses to massage his temple, "He is alright," he said, "but we're not sure if he will wake up soon."

Everyone exchanged a worried look before Chan could ask again, "He's in a comma?" The doctor nodded.

"But we'll make sure he'll wake up as soon as possible," the doctor said, "he's in good hands."

Chan had entered the room with the others excluding Jeongin and Seungmin, "It's all my fault, Minnie," Jeongin cried, covering his tear soaked face, "if I didn't pick up the puppy or just went out of the way, then we wouldn't be here!"

Seungmin patted Jeongin's back comfortingly and hoped that even though he couldn't say anything, he could calm the younger down with what he is doing.

Chan couldn't stand seeing his boyfriend on that hospital bed, wires, tubes, bandages and every other things on Felix, he looked so broken.

Chan stood in this place, debating with himself if he should cry or not. Before he could  even decide, hot tears had already made their way from his lashes to the tiled floor.

Chan knelt on the floor to the difficulty of breathing, not because of heart complications, his heart constricted so damn hard. Chan panted as his tears still made their way out of his eyes and he clutched his shirt where his heart was located.

Why couldn't I protect you? Why did this happen to you? Why?

New Year happened...yet there is a new struggle already ahead of us.
