Chapter 13, The Next Day

The next day, Geoff woke up to his alarm, and he was ready to face the day. He got out of bed quietly and got ready. He went into Gavin's room to still find him asleep and peacefully resting. Geoff sent a text over to doctor Smith, inviting him to the office to talk to Gavin. Geoff smiled to himself and walked over to his bed and gently shook him.

"Gavin, it's time to wake up buddy." Geoff said. Gavin groaned and stretched. "How are you feeling?" Geoff asked.

"Better, thank you. And thank you for being there for me last night." Gavin said stretching.

"It was no problem, but next time don't hide that stuff from us. We want you to be healthy." Geoff said. Gavin nodded.

"I will. Now can you leave so I can get ready for work?" Gavin asked. Geoff nodded and walked out of the room, closing the door behind him. Just then he got a text from Jack.

J: How is Gavin doing? Is he coming into work?

G: He seems to be doing better. He had a panic attack last night from a nightmare, but I got him through it and back to sleep. He said he was ready to go to work this morning but we'll see how he handles it. I also sent Smith a text and told him to come to the office to talk about this with Gavin.

J: fair enough, see you soon.

Geoff sighed as Gavin came out into the living room.

"What's going on Geoff?" Gavin asked.

"Jack just texted me to check in on you." Geoff said. "How are you though? Your nightmare last night scared me a little." Geoff mentioned. Gavin frowned.

"I'm sorry mate, I'll try to not have it again." Gavin said, eating breakfast.

The conversation went quiet again as Gavin and Geoff got ready for the day. They went to the office where Gavin was greeted with love and people excited to see him, something Gavin was not entirely used to. He went into the recording room and sat down at his desk, and turned on his computer. Gavin heard the door open but paid no attention to it until he felt a hand on his shoulder. Gavin jumped and turned around and saw Jack there. Gavin stood up and they shared another hug, no words spoken or even needed.

"I'm surprised you're here today Gavin, we all really thought that you would take today off to recover." Jack said once the hug was broke off.

"I wanted to thank you for staying with me, and I am going home soon anyway so I'll need days off then." Gavin said.

"Well, I'm glad you're here. We can play minecraft today or something, whatever you want." Jack said. Gavin smiled. Whatever he wanted? This was new. He liked it.

The other boys soon came in, and they gave similar reactions to Gavin's presence. They all spent the day checking on Gavin and doing things that made him happy. Around four, Gavin was editing when he gets a text from Geoff.

G: come into the conference room, Jack and I want to talk to you.

Gavin: omw.

Gavin began to walk over to the board room. What did they need? What did they want? Was he going to get fired? No. What he saw made him freeze in his spot. Gavin walked in the boardroom and saw Jack, Geoff, and Doctor Smith, all waiting for him.

"Come have a seat Gavin, we need to talk." Geoff said, pointing to a seat next to Jack.

The seating went as such: Geoff and Dr. Smith on one side, Jack and an empty chair on the other. It would be that way if Gavin walked into the room and sat down, but he was frozen still. Gavin was thinking a thousand thoughts per minute. The question that kept appearing was: What was going on?
