Chapter 5- The Chase

Gavin sprinted down the hallway, he didn't really know where to go, he just didn't want to be there. He ran into the waiting room to see Jeremey and Michael too distracted by something to see he was there. He quietly opened the door, snapping the other two out of a trance, only to see the door close. It wasn't even thirty seconds later when Jack, Geoff, Ray, and Doctor Smith come running through the same door.

"Where the hell is he?" Geoff said. Jeremey and Michael looked at each other, then realized that door was Gavin. "Dammit, you were supposed to be on the lookout for him." The leader said. Michael stood up.

"Ray, let's go get the other Lad back. The rest of you, stay here. I'll call you if we need backup." He said, walking out. Ray followed.

"Where are we gonna find him, Michael?" Ray asked.

"I'm not sure, but we need to find him, and soon," Michael said. They took two steps and heard sobbing in the distance. They followed it and found Gavin crying on a bench at a nearby park. They sat down next to him, putting an arm around him. "Hey, Gav, What the fuck was that?" Michael said.

"I'm... I'm sorry, but I can't do it. He's gonna hurt me like what happened last time..." Gavin said. Michael pulled Gavin close, and Ray scooted closer to Gavin, putting an arm on his leg.

"Buddy, you have to do it, we'll be with you. Do it for X-Ray and Vav." Ray said. Gavin shook his head no, breaking down again. Gavin was too scared and his breathing began to hitch again.

"We don't have to go back yet, just try breathing," Michael said, continued holding him and trying to calm him down and Ray texted Geoff telling him where they are, and that they were fine. After another five minutes, Michael spoke.

"Gavin. You need this damn checkup. But Jack, Ray and I will be there with you. We'll make sure nothing bad happens to you. The doctor won't get far if he tries anything funny with you. Mogar will make sure of that." Michael said, trying to lighten the mood. Ray nodded in agreement and Gavin thought about it. He was scared shitless, but he wanted to be done with the appointment and the pain he was in.

Gavin contemplated running away again, but a twinge of pain went through his jaw and he winced, holding his jaw. Michael and Ray looked at the other lad with a knowing look. Gavin sighed and nodded defeatedly.

"I'm proud of you Gavin," Ray said, pulling him up.

"Well come on then, let's head back and get you out of pain I didn't put you in!" Michael said, standing up. Ray followed and Gavin also did hesitantly.

They walked back to the office, Michael and Ray with their arm around Gavin. Gavin was scared shitless, but he knew logically he'd be safe if Michael and Ray were with him, and he also had Jack. There were a few times Gavin backed up and tried to run, but Michael and Ray were there to stop him from running away. At one point Michael and Ray looked at each other with worry for Gavin, they genuinely felt bad for him, but they knew they needed to be strong, not only for them but for Gavin.
