Intruder

I am
Both you and them
It's a strange place to be
But I
Cannot
Deny it

My brown skin doesn't negate my
Desirable
Economic
Status

Well, at least not
In this case

I witness your home
Slip from your grasp
Into the palms of
Entitled
Children

I step to the left
Towards a place where the city won't bother to
Clean the
Litter

Where once white buildings become shades of grey
Funeral homes on every
Other
Block

To my right there are two grocery stores within
A five block
Radius

Boutique cafes lathered in fresh coats of bright paint
Line
The polished
Streets

Oh how it grows
Consumes
Engulfs
Demolish.

I hate to say
Since my college days
I have been
I am
A part of it
