When I was a child
I stole bubble gum
From a faded old gas station
The owner looked at me
I looked right back
Which made me wonder
Why not?
I lied to my mother
When my beloved inner friend said
"Wanna make your time worthwhile?"
Why not?
As I returned to the pews
Quieter than the spirits for which we came
My mother said
"What took you so long in the bathroom?"
Why not?
