Chapter XIV

I woke up with the person I love the most next to me. I am so happy! This seems like a dream. I went in the kitchen to prepare the breakfast. I don't know many recipes so I'll have to search for one. I grabbed my phone and I saw that I have 17 missed calls. From dad...I'll call him back only because I want to hear how disparate he is. He surely wants me back home and surely he wants Minki to be in the hospital. I called him.
"JONGHYUN YOU REALLY WANT ME TO HAVE TROUBLE AT WORK?"
"You really want me to be unhappy all my life?"
"I...Of course not. I want you to be happy."
"Then leave me alone. I am happy with Minki. She loves me and I love her. I love her more than I loved you! So please...Don't call me again. Let me be happy...Even just a week. Please."
"I was fired 2 hours ago..."
"I am sorry dad..."
"Because I said that Minki committed suicide and I burned her body."
"Wha...Why?"
"So you can be happy with him...I mean, her. If this psycho pretty girl makes you happy then I'll support your decision..."
"Thank you so much! This means a lot to me."
"Thank your poor grandmother..."
"Dad? Are you ok?"
"She is no longer with us...We lost her last night...She kept saying to let you be happy with Minki...It was her last wish...After saying that...She died."
"What..."
After telling me that he ended the call. I can't believe this...Grandma? The woman who was my second mom, the woman who I loved more than anything else, the woman who is my model...Died?...And her last wish was my happiness...I sat on a chair and started crying. Those news broke me. I am so fucking hurt. I need to go back home. I have to attend her funeral...Minki came down and hurried to me when she saw me crying...I looked at her. I have her but I don't have grandma...A question is haunting me; 'did I killed her?'. This question cut my heart like a razor blade. She was so sad when I left...Maybe she did infarct...Only because of me.
"What happened?" My thoughts were interrupted by her worried voice.
"Grandma..." I couldn't continue the sentence...She looked at me and came closer, signaling me to continue. She was even worried than before.
"Grandma died..." After saying that I started crying again. Minki covered her mouth with her hand when she heard...Few tears started to form in her eyes...She didn't know grandma for a long time...But it didn't matter. Her act showed me what a good person she is. She cared for grandma. I hugged her. Hugging her always make me feel better.
"We have to attend her funeral." Minki said wiping her tears.
"Yes...Let me go and buy some tickets..."

We arrived at my house. Entering in the yard was so hurtful. I grabbed Minki's hand and went in the house. On the sofa from the hallway was mom with my aunt and her cousin. She saw me and, of course, came and hugged me. She even hugged Minki. I am surprised.
"Jonghyun, sweetheart, this gorgeous girl is your girlfriend?"
"Yes auntie..."
"She's so pretty! You better take care of her!"
"I'll protect her at all costs." After I said that she lit up her cigarette and smiled at me. Really auntie? You smoke at someone's funeral? I grabbed the luggage and went up, Minki coming after me.
"I missed your room..." Minki said as she sat next to me.
"I missed it too..."
"I wish we could stay here with your parents..."
"We can't...I don't really trust dad..."
"Your mom looked okay with me."
"Mom is different..."
"I'll go and get some water."
"Wait...Dad is there for sure, he won't miss his mother's funeral. I will go and get water. You can stay here and play on the computer or read something..."
She nodded and I left my room. The door from grandma's room was opened. I went there. In the bed was grandma covered with some kind of sheet. Dad was next to her crying. I entered in the room and sat next to him. He looked at me and hugged me.
"I am so sorry my son. I should have noticed how much do you love her. From now on I will support you."
"Thanks dad."
We sat there in silence after talking. I am happy that he finally accepted my relationship...But I still can't trust him.
"That's what I wanted!"
"WHAT THE FUCK?!" Me and dad said in the same time. It was grandma. This is the weirdest thing that happened in my entire life.
"I am not dead. I just wanted you to see how much Jonghyun loves Minki. So I acted dead."
"Mom how in the fucking hell you managed to stop your heart beat."
"Kid...I was in a war..."
"That explains a lot."
I couldn't believe what happened. She was alive all the time? And she did this for me? I hugged her. I am so happy. I have Minki and I have grandma! My life is perfect now.
