I don't make graphics regularly, I've said that before. But I know many people who do and I also have common sense.
Basically, if you're going to run a graphics competition, know about the graphics. If it's a cover competition then you must know about covers. Threads, know about threads. And so on. Know how they work, the sizes (if there's a standard one) and all of the basic rules for making them.
And if you're hiring judges then make certain they know about the graphics as well.
And if it's profile headers, know how they work. If things go in the middle they will be hidden by the icon. Therefore, people who make headers with the major part of the images or text in the center SHOULD NOT WIN, because then it ain't a header, it's a banner.
Don't make an icon with a crapload of text on it, as we all know Wattpad icons are tiny, text is pretty much useless.
So again, KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING! If you don't know then the designers that do will get pissy when they've followed the basic common sense rules for a particular graphic while someone else didn't and yet they win a round.
Don't piss off the graphic designers. It won't end well. They all seem to know one another and they share info.
