When I woke up the next morning, I found a neatly folded pile of clothes and an envelope sitting on top of the dresser. Blinking in the morning sunlight, I slipped out of bed and padded over to check it out. I picked up the envelope first and opened it. Inside was a credit card and a note. Unfolding it, I read,
(Y/N),
Unfortunately, I will be away all day. Please take this and replenish your wardrobe.
Your husband,
Alastor
I set the letter down and picked up the card. It was one of those fancy, heavy no limit credit cards like my mother and father had. Shocked at his generosity, I set it aside and then looked at the pile of clothes. It was a yellow maxi dress and sandals (pictured below), perfect for what was sure to be a very warm Georgian spring day.
I got cleaned up quickly and made my way downstairs. The click click of my sandals echoed through the emptiness. I opened the door to the front hall and stepped out into the sunshine. A warm breeze played with my skirt as I closed the door behind me. A town car was waiting in the yard below to take me into town. I smiled as the driver opened the door for me so I could slide into the back seat.
The drive was maybe only twenty minutes long, but the ride was so pretty, I didn't want it to end. Green fields passed by where horses and cattle grazed peacefully. But too soon, we had pulled into a chic little town with shops and cafes lining the sidewalks. The driver let me out in front of a cute little boutique and I gave him the time to meet me back here.
I spent the entire day shopping at this shop and that until I had a decent wardrobe and all the basics to make life comfortable. I even picked up some cologne for Alastor. I had no clue if demons wore cologne, but I hoped he would enjoy the sentiment.
The driver took me back to the house, where Alastor was waiting on the front porch. I got out, told the driver where to put the bags, and ran up the steps to meet my husband. I handed him the credit card and the cologne. Pocketing the card, he sniffed at the bottle and smiled.
"Thank you, my dear." He said warmly, offering me his arm. I took it and we went inside. Instead of dusty and abandoned, the house was clean, warm, and well lit.
"It's beautiful." I whispered, looking around at the polished antique furniture and the chandelier hanging above our heads.
"I hope you will find this to be a pleasing home, wife." Alastor said, taking my hand and kissing it. I blushed and nodded. Home. My home. Our home.
