"Alastor!" I shook the sleeping demon next to me. Alastor stirred and opened his red eyes.

"Hmm?" He muttered, sitting up and yawning.

"There's someone downstairs." I hissed, clutching his arm. Immediately, he became alert. Slipping out of bed, he put on his slacks and quietly open the door. Sure enough, there was someone moving around downstairs none to silently.

Alastor slipped out the door and crept to the stairs. Throwing a robe on, I tiptoed after him. Peaking over the railing, we stared down below into the darkness. Two figures were moving down below.

"Son of a bitch!" One swore in a rough male voice as they ran into the corner of a bookshelf. I quickly covered my mouth to hide a gasp. It was my father.

With a growl, Alastor snapped his fingers and every downstairs light flicked on. The two people below froze for a moment then turned to face Alastor and I. My father looked like he had been drinking, his hair was rumpled and his shirt was covered in stains. The other man was a complete stranger, but judging by his collar, I guessed he was a priest.

"Unhand that girl, demon." The priest said, pointing at Alastor. My husband grinned his insane Cheshire cat grin as he slowly began to walk down the stairs. The priest pulled out a cross and held it up in front of him like this was some horror movie.

"Be gone, follower of Lucifer!" The priest called out, shaking the cross at him.

Laughing, Alastor replied, "My dear holy father, if you don't mind, I prefer to be addressed as the radio demon." The priest looked horrified to be spoken to by a demon.

"You're possessing her!" My father interjected, slurring his words slightly.

"He is not!" I yelled back, stomping down the stair to stand at Alastor's side, "He's my husband and I love him!" Alastor turned his smile to me, more gentle than the one he had given the priest.

"An odd time to confess your love," He replied, "But I love you too." I returned his smile and slipped my hands into his. However, our moment was interrupted when the priest took a vile from his pocket, uncorked it, and threw it at Alastor. The liquid inside it splashed over him, hissing and smoking as it made contact with his skin. With a snarl of rage like a feral animal, he pushed me behind him, shielding me.

Terrified, the priest held up the cross again, and for the first time, I got a good look at it. It was solid silver, heavy, with the end tapering down to a point. That was a cross meant for exorcisms...

"In the name of the father, the son, and the holy spirit," The priest said in a shaky voice, "I banish you to the pits of Hell." Then with a lunge, he launched himself at Alastor, the cross point aimed at his heart.

"No!" I screamed, shoving Alastor to the side with all my might. Surprised, he stumbled, looking back at me. Our eyes locked for a second before an exploding pain erupted in my chest.

I looked down to see the silver cross protruding from my chest. A cold numbing spread through my body, and my knees buckled under me. Diving forward, Alastor caught me, holding me close to him.

"(Y/N)..." He muttered, red eyes filled with sorrow and concern. My vision was clouding over, and sounds were getting further away.

"Alastor..." His name slipped from my lips as the last bit of his face faded into black.
