Take My Hand

Alyx's pov

We gave ourselves away the second we walked up. It might have been the hand holding.

As soon as Hannah saw us she shoved Merritt and whispered something in her ear. Merritt glanced our way, grinned, and whispered something to Josh while Hannah did the same to Patrick. I rolled my eyes and Tyler grinned.

"So you guys are finally a thing?" Hannah smirked.

I nodded. They all grinned at us. I shifted uncomfortably.

"What changed? What did we miss?" Josh asked.

"Well... you see... um." I stopped.

"She asked me out." Tyler stepped in for me.

"Oh come on, you've got to give us more details than that!" Hannah complained. "I told you all about Patrick and I's stories!"

"You did what?" Patrick asked. Hannah ignored him.

"OK, fine. I can't do life, so I struggled to get the words out for like ten minutes. And when I finally asked he was super confused, so after I cleared everything up he..." My face turned bright red. Tyler's did as well.

Merritt and Hannah laughed. "Aww!"

Tyler cleared his throat. "Yeah..."

All the while we were still holding hands. We were pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

The conversation turned from us, thank heavens, and after floating from random topics it inevitably came back to the most popular topic: Taco Bell.

"OK; I've been wondering this for a long time," I began, turning to ruffle Tyler's hair. "Why does this one love Taco Bell so much?"

Josh just gaped at me.

"Wha- what?" I looked from Josh to Tyler, who was looking down with a small smile on his face.

"Tyler doesn't let anyone touch his hair." Josh said, his jaw still practically on the floor.

"What?" I asked innocently. "Like this?" I fluffed Tyler's hair again.

"No, I'm serious. His mom is still the only one allowed to cut his hair."

"It's- I mean, it's not that big of a deal." Tyler muttered, blushing.

"Really?" Josh asked and leaned over to touch his best friend's head. Tyler flinched away and blushed more.

I laughed. "Looks like I've risen above your level, Josh."

"Naw, no one could ever out rank a best friend." Josh grinned.

"Excuse me." Mere gave Josh a look.

"OK... Maybe one or two things can be... equal." Josh admitted.

"Guys!" Hannah piped in. "We should go on a group date together!"

"Yeah!" Josh grinned.

"I mean... OK, why not?" I agreed.

"Awesome. We'll go get dinner at like... Five Guys next Saturday. Sound good?" Hannah asked. Everyone nodded and mumbled an agreement.

"Are you sure we can't go to Taco Bell instead of Five Guys?" Tyler pouted.

I laughed. "Tyler we literally just had Taco Bell. I'm pretty sure a burger isn't going to kill you." I squeezed his hand.

"Alright, alright. I could settle for a good burger." He laughed and kissed my forehead. I blushed and tried to ignore the faces the rest of the group were making.
