Dally drove faster than I ever thought a car could go, and somehow, the cops didn't even seem to care. I was shaking really badly with tears in my eyes and I guess Dally had known because he slipped his right hand into my left and held it tightly without taking an eye off the road ahead of us. Quickly, he lurched into a parking spot in front of the hospital and we jumped out the car together and ran inside. He ran up to the front desk with panic in his actions.

"W-we need to go see Kathryn Powell, immediately," he demanded.

Without any questions, the lady answered us, "Room 201." Then we ran.

We couldn't wait for the elevator so instead, we ran as fast as we could us the stairs to the second floor. I was completely terrified and overwhelmed that all I could do was run and follow Dally silently. We ran down at least three hallways before we got to room 201 and then we barged in.

Tim Shepard was there sitting in a chair next to the hospital bed in which my sister was laying in.

"How is she?" Dally asked, quickly walking over to Tim. But, instead of waiting for an answer I ran over to her bed, on the right side where she was laying.

"Kat?" I asked desperately.

"Kat, please answer me," I said, letting a tear trickle down my cheek.

"M-max," she answered, breathing heavily.

"Yes, it's me," I said grabbing her hand with a smile and holding back tears.

"My side hurts, really bad," she said furrowing her eyebrows.

"Kat, it's okay. I'm here now." I felt more single tears run down my cheeks, as my whole body started to slightly shake.

"Max, I-i love you. But, I need to leave now. It's time." she said as tears started dripping down her face too.

"Kat! I love you, please, don't go. You can't." I said desperately trying to stop her from fading.

"You were good to me," she said. Then all of a sudden her face and eyelids dropped and her breathing stopped.

In less than a second, an alarm or some kind of beeping thing went off and doctors rushed into the room. I couldn't tell what was happening, my mind went completely blank as people pushed me out of the way, but all I could do was stand there. Then I felt a gentle hand grip my waist and pull me into a hug. It was Dally. All of a sudden, every tear that I had been holding back poured out of me and I cried in Dally's arms as he walked me outside the room and set down on his lap in a chair in the hall. I sat there, on his lap with my face buried in his chest while his chin settled on top of my head and he held me tightly. I couldn't help but think of everything Kat was and had done for me, and now my last family member was gone, due to some assholes that took her life. The only person I had ever loved was gone, and there was nothing I could do about it.

Dally's POV

Max stood there, staring at her sister that had just passed, I could tell she was hurt and done, so I ran over to her and pulled her into a hug before she could do anything stupid. As soon as I pulled her in, she released everything that she was holding back and she cried in my arms. To avoid the doctors, I took her out into the hall and let her sit on my lap and cry. Then I rested my chin on her head and kissed the top of her head slowly, reassuring her and letting her know I was there. Then out of the room came Tim, tears trickling down his face too.

"Hey, Dally, you going to be alright taking her home. I gotta go and take my car, but I can drop you two off somewhere," he said.

"Yeah, one second," I told him and then I looked down and whispered into Max's ear. "Hey, Max, I can take you back to your house or Darry's house now," I said.
