Max's POV

It's been a week since the death of my sister. I haven't been coping with it very well, but I couldn't show it, after all, I was a strong girl. There was one thing that I was actually happy about tonight, however. That was the special dinner that Darry's gang and my gang were having at the Dingo tonight. We weren't having dinner for any special reason, except for the fact that we all just really wanted to see each other again and hang out.

It was 4:30 when my gang started getting ready for tonight by turning on the Beatles on our old record player and blasted it throughout the house. It was pure chaos and fun getting ready in a small house with only a limited space of where to get ready at, but somehow we managed. After all of us got ready, we waited at the front door to marvel over how good we each looked.

Dani wore black jeans, a white shirt, a pink leather jacket, and Converse; Jess wore a white tank top, a red and white bandana, a red skirt, and black combat boots; Ray wore ripped jeans, a black crop top, and brown combat boots; finally, I wore high-waisted jean shorts, a white shirt, a black leather jacket with a pocket knife inside, and  black converse.

It was fair to say that we all looked good, so we hopped into the Mustang and headed to the Dingo. Just as expected, the boys were in the back waiting for us with Cokes on the table and in their hands.

"Hey there pretty ladies," said Steve as we approached their table.

"Hey Steve," said Jess walking over and sitting by him.

Soon, all of us were sitting at the booth, drinking Cokes and laughing just as we were two weeks ago. Then, someone hit up the jukebox and everyone decided that it was time for dancing. Well, everyone besides me and Dally.

"What, you're not going out there to dance like a fool?" he asked me with a smile.

"No Dallas, I'm not," I replied smirking.

"Whoever told you that you could call me Dallas?" he asked.

"Whoever told me that I couldn't?"

"I guess you've got a point, Maxine," Dally said with an evil glare.

"Dallas, I have something I have to tell you," I said scooting closely next to him.

"What would that be?" he asked.

I got really close to him and whispered in his ear, "Tomorrow night I am going to get the Soc that killed Kathryn to meet me somewhere so that we can have a one on one rumble. I told Tim to contact him and send him the time and location, but I'm not sure how things are going to work out. I might need you to help me."

"Max, what the hell were you thinking yo-"

"I know. I could get hurt, killed, or end up killing, but I have to do this. I'm going to need you to be ready at Darry's house and be ready for a phone call."

"But Max, I don't want you to-"

"Get hurt? Yeah, I hope I don't either, but if I do I do." I said looking deeply into his bold eyes.

Dally brought my head close to his chest and whispered slowly in my ear, "No matter what happens, call me and I'll come to get you."

"Okay Dallas," I said grinning in the presence of Dally's warmth and strong body.

Soon everyone was done with dancing and ready to get home, so we said our goodbyes and both gangs departed. Once my gang and I got home we all went straight to bed. However, I was the only one who didn't dream that night. Instead, I planned how I was going to fight the Soc tomorrow.
