SHE PROMISED
( part two, chapter fifty-four )AFTER SHE HAD LEFT JOSEPHINE'S HOME, Elle hadn't been waiting outside for them. Instead, she had texted both Elijah and Hayley that she would meet them back at home. However, when the three had travelled back to the compound, they discovered she wasn't there; she wasn't hiding out in her room or one of the bathrooms, or eating ice cream straight out of the carton in the kitchen (like they caught her doing once or twice or maybe eleven times in the middle of the night), or even in one of the many studies watching Netflix on her laptop. She wasn't fiddling around with one of her many cameras. They couldn't find her anywhere.
Elijah had nervously paced across the courtyard, occasionally checking his phone to see if his littlest sister had sent him some sort of message to confirm that she was okay and safe. She hadn't. It had been several hours and she still hadn't returned, and he was afraid to tell Klaus. God, his brother was going to be furious.
Hayley walked back into the courtyard, her phone in her hand. She shoved it into one of her back pockets. "She isn't answering my calls," the hybrid said and pursed her lips. She looked to Elijah and Gia. "You don't think 一"
"I know." Marcel had interrupted, appearing in the courtyard. "Eva didn't wait. She has Elle, and she took Josephine LaRue not half an hour ago."
Hayley's eyes narrowed. "I'm gonna kill that bitch," she hissed. "We need to find them fast. If Eva doesn't need Hope, then where would she go?"
"The same place she kept all the other captives," Marcel said. "Where she took Davina and Elle."
"A place no one has been able to find for two years," Elijah said.
At the sound of a phone ringing, Marcel reached into his pocket. He pulled out his phone, spotting Vincent's name on the screen. The vampire let out an aggravated sigh, scowled, before reluctantly answering it. "When I find you, I am going to rip your head from your neck," he hissed.
"You may want to hold off on that decapitation," Vincent replied. "I found them all. Davina's alive." The witch looked down, seeing Davina unconscious with a mysterious symbol cut into her forehead. Beside her was the Mikaelson witch Elle, a girl he remembered briefly from when Finn Mikaelson had inhabited him. "Sorry, I had to make it look convincing! If you were in on the plan, Eva would have known."
"Yeah, blasting me through a couple glass doors really sold it," Marcel sassed. "All right, round of applause. Now what?"
Vincent paused, looking down at his ex-wife. Some blood had trailed down her nose, and when he looked to Davina and Elle, their noses too were bleeding. In fact, all of the other children had blood from noses. He huffed. "Now, we got a problem," he said. "These kids, they're all linked to her. If she dies, they all die."
Elijah and Hayley, who could hear their conversation clear as day, clenched their fists. The hybrid turned around, crossing her arms tightly over her body.
"So, we'll find a witch to unlink them."
"Gonna need somebody with some serious power."

"Unless it's not a trick," Elijah said, appearing behind his younger brother. He looked over at Freya, eyes drifting quickly at the chains at her wrists but didn't comment. "I'll be the anchor."
"Brother, I think not," Klaus said.
Elijah fought the urge to roll his eyes. "Brother, whatever this is, nothing must prevent us from saving our sisters. I will not lose Rebekah or Katrielle."
Klaus raised a brow, lips parted in surprise. "What are you talking about?"
"Eva Sinclair has kidnapped Katrielle," Elijah said quickly, "and Freya is the only one that can help her and Rebekah."
The hybrid nearly yelled with rage. He had lost his sister twice already; the first time a thousand years ago, the second time months ago to Esther and Finn. He was not going to lose his sister, neither of his sisters, again. "Oh, yes, by all means, let's give Dahlia's whelp access to all the information she needs to destroy us!"
Freya looked down, gripping the chains shackling her wrists.
Elijah pointed to their mother, inhabiting the body of the witch Lenore. "And since when do we heed the words of this serpent?"
The blonde witch suddenly shouted out, rage laced with her tone. "Enough!"
The two brothers watched in shock as Freya easily snapped the chains and broke the shackles, twisting her wrist quickly. Klaus' neck snapped to the side and he fell to the floor. Elijah simply watched his eldest sister in stunned silence, while Freya looked down at Klaus. "For an upgraded model, you're not very sharp." She took a step to Elijah. "Let's go. We have sisters to save."
