" Nikki, can you come and help us? " my dad Finn Hudson said calling me from downstairs. " Yes sir, just a minute. " I said yelling from my bedroom. It was August 8th,1959 and we had just moved from Mississippi to Texas and now West Germany. My dad was in the army and we moved around a lot so I never really had a lot of friends but one. On the day that we were moving to West Germany, my friend Annabel Campbell told me that Elvis Presley was stationed in Bad Neuheim, West Germany and told me that I might meet him while I was there. " If I do,I'll tell you." I said hugging her . Annabel Campbell was my best and only friend in Austin,Texas so as I said before I never had any other friends . "Nik, are you coming? These boxes aren't going to unpack themselves. " My mom, Rachel Hudson Berry said to me. I fixed my white cream blouse, light purple poodle skirt, and put on my white flats . " Mom, why do we have to move all the time? " I said walking downstairs with her and my little 5 year old brother Daniel Hudson to the moving truck. " Well, sweetheart it's your dad's job you know that. And don't you worry, you'll make new friends, have a great Junior year, and it'll be the best year you've ever had. " She said hugging me. After we put everything inside the house, we ate dinner.Mom , Daniel, and me sat on our light green couch while my dad sat in his light brown recliner and turned on the TV. " The Ed Sullivan Show" was on and it was a rerun of Elvis Presley singing his song "Ready Teddy". My parents never liked Elvis Presley and thought he was a "bad influence on teenagers" . So that night or any night me and my little brother were sent to my room but when we got there we opened my door just a crack to watch Elvis. To me Elvis was the most beautiful man that I've ever seen in my life. My parents and every other parent in the world thought that their children should listen to Christian music instead of Elvis. They were Christian parents and they thought people who sang rock-n' roll were devil worshipers . After the show was over, we got into bed. As I was going to sleep,I heard my dad knocking on my door. " Nikki, can I talk to you?" my dad asked me sitting on my purple bed. I nodded my head. " I'm sorry that I didn't let you watch "The Ed Sullivan Show" but I wanna make it up to you. Would you wanna come to the army base with me?" He asked me with a smile on his face. " I would love that Dad. " I said hugging him. " Great, I have a friend down there and their family has a daughter named Lucy. She's 15, and I'm sure she would like to meet you. " He said getting up from my bed and going to the door. " Ok, good night dad. " I said shutting my eyes. "Good night Nik-Nik." He said giving me a kiss on my forehead before closing my door.
