Chapter 6: "Merry Christmas Baby"

Three wonderful months had past and it was already Christmas . It was December 16th,1959 and I had just gotten out of school for the holidays and I was so excited to spend Christmas with Elvis and Lucy. So after school me and Lucy decided that we would go Christmas shopping for Elvis and Red before it was to late. "So what are you gonna get Elvis?" Lucy asked me while she was tightening up her pink winter coat. "I think I might buy him that light blue guitar shaped music box since he loves guitars so much and it matches his eyes. " I said to her as we walked inside the store "Gifts Galore!" I saw just what I was looking for. The perfect present for my man. " It's so beautiful Nikki .Elvis is gonna love it. " Lucy said. "I hope so Luc. " I said walking over to the cashier to pay for his present and for Lucy's present for Red. We walked out of the store and bought two cups of hot chocolate at a small café in downtown Germany. After we drank our hot chocolate, we decided to go back to my house to hang out. When we got home,the phone rang. "Hello, Hi Elvis." I said while blushing. "Hey Nik-Nik, how's my little gal doin?" Elvis asked. "I'm doing fine. I just went Christmas shopping with Lucy. How bout you?" I asked him as I went to sit on the couch while Lucy watched "I love Lucy" on TV. " I went Christmas shopping for the guys, Dodger, and Daddy. I can't wait until Christmas Eve to give you your gift,baby. I bet mine's gonna be better than yours. " Elvis said. I could tell he was smiling on the other end of the phone. "I don't think so mister. I think mine's gonna be soooo much better than yours. " I said giggling. After a few minutes of mushiness on the phone, Elvis asked me if me and Lucy could come and spend Christmas Eve at his house . I told him I couldn't because we were spending Christmas Eve with my family and other relatives. "Don't you worry about that, I'll talk them into it tonight. " Elvis said. After we got off the phone,I watched TV with Lucy. When my parents got home, the phone rang again and it was Elvis . He talked to my parents and asked them if I could spend the holidays with him and told them what we would be doing and that he would have me home by 10 that night. They agreed and called Lucy's family and asked if they would come and drive me to his house and asked if they were going to visit him on Christmas Eve. They said yes and decided that they would pick me up at 6. It was finally Christmas Eve and I decided to wear a long white dress with sequins at the top ( it's gonna be Lea Michele's Dress that she wore in the episode "Swan Song " in Glee's Season 4) with white heels and my white winter coat. I thought I looked cute and I hope Elvis liked it . Lucy wore a cute red dress with red heels and her white coat also. We were twinkies. When we arrived at the house, it was decorated with Christmas Decorations everywhere. "It's so beautiful." Lucy said getting out of the car. "It sure is." I said walking with her to the door. We walked to the front door and saw Doger greet us. "Merry Christmas girls." Dodger said after giving me and Lucy a hug. " Merry Christmas , Mamaw." I said walking into the house with her. "So where's Elvis?" I said walking into the living room. "Right over there sweetheart. Y'all go and enjoy yourselves." She said before going into the kitchen to finish cooking dinner. I walked behind the couch where Elvis, who was wearing a black dress shirt, black pants and shoes, was sitting at and covered his eyes. "Guess who?" I said with a huge smile on my face. "Debra Paget." He said smiling . "No,silly it's me." I said uncovering his eyes."That was my second guess. Merry Christmas baby. "Elvis said as he leaned in to kiss me. "Merry Christmas to you too. " I said taking off my coat and sitting it on the couch before I sat in Elvis's lap. " You must have read my mind when you wore this dress. " Elvis said holding my waist while biting his lip."You could say that. " I said winking at him . "I wish you didn't have to go home. I'm gonna miss you terribly. " I said wrapping my arms around his neck. " I know Nik-Nik . But we'll keep in touch . I'll call you everyday, write you long ,sappy , soppy , love letters like they do in those hopeless romantic movies that you love. I'm never gonna forget you ." He said wiping away the happy tears from my eyes with his thumbs. A few minutes later, Dodger called everyone in to eat dinner. She made Turkey, ham, butter beans, mac n' cheese, sweet rolls, green bean casserole, fried chicken,candy yams, and a lot of pies. Yum! 😋 After Elvis said grace, we ate dinner. When I looked at Elvis while he ate, he looked like a hungry pig . I giggled at the thought. When we finished eating ,we exchanged gifts. After I gave Lucy her present, a diamond bracelet with her name on it, Elvis pulled me into the living room where we could be alone. "Honey, here's your Christmas present." Elvis said as he handed me a small box . I opened it and saw a beautiful silver heart locket. "Oh, Elvis it's so pretty. " I said taking it out of the box. "I put a picture of me inside so that way I'll be close to your heart. " Elvis said as he put it on my neck. "Aww, your so sweet. " I said giving him a hug. "Here's your present , I hope you like it. " I said blushing. He smiled and opened the box and saw the light blue guitar shaped music box. "Do you like it?" I asked with

a smile on my face . Elvis leaned in and gave me a long,sweet,kiss. "Does that answer your question?"Elvis asked me while holding my hand. After spending a few minutes together, Elvis led me to the piano with him. He sang "Silent Night", "Here Comes Santa Claus", and "I'll Be Home For Christmas". Before it was time for me to leave, Elvis walked with me underneath the doorway of the living room. "Look, Mistletoe." Elvis said as brushed my cheek while I blushed and kissed me. "This has been the BEST Christmas of my life." I said wrapping my arms around his waist.
