"Get the fuck out of here, Frank!" The distraught brown-haired girl screamed, her face burning red as her voice shook with anger. Her dangerous words were aimed at what appeared to be a homeless man who was lying on his back on the iced-over sidewalk. From what Brielle could see, the man was dressed in a pair of stained and ripped up jeans and was layered in a tan long sleeve shirt, navy blue zip up jacket, and a worn jean coat with a dirtied cotton collar. The screaming girls' voice echoed around the bustling neighborhood ominously. Local passerbyers continued on their way to their destinations without giving the commotion a second thought, meaning it must have been a normal thing to see around here.
Brielle Sommers stood nearby watching the scene, clutching Lip's coat tightly against her body. She glanced back down at the address Lip had given her the night before, double checking that she was at the right house. "What the hell is going on?" She mumbled under her breath as her soft brown eyes returned to the two contestants of the screaming match. Unsure of what to do, Brielle rocked back and forth on her feet. She contemplated just leaving the coat hanging on the fence, but decided against it just in case it never made it to the rightful owner. Her eyes shifted downward as she bounced ideas around her head, ultimately deciding to just wait it out. Another round of yelling drew Brielle back in.
The homeless man propped himself up onto his elbows before trying to raise himself off of the ground. Stumbling over his own feet, he fell forwards onto the front porch steps, too close for comfort to the angry girl who took a few steps backwards before kicking the man's shoulder. "Jesus Christ Frank! Look at you! Is that what you want Debbie and Carl to see from their father?" The girls voice cracked as she spoke and even from the distance, Brielle knew that she was crying. For a split second, Brielle's heart broke for the girl. It was almost perfectly obvious to everyone that she was worn down and broken, most likely in correlation with the man standing on her front lawn.
The man groaned in pain before falling onto his side and sliding down the frosty steps. While he continued struggling to stand, he caught glimpse of Brielle standing nearby and immediately called her out. He raised his finger before turning his glance towards the girl on the porch. Brielle's stomach instantly knotted as she awaited exposure, knowing their anger was about to combine and be directed at her, the new target. The girl could feel her face reddening at an alarmingly fast rate; she let her eyes fall close, praying that he would just ignore her as her heart beat into her throat.
"Fuck Fiona, we should start charging admission for people to watch our shit show of a life! Hey, blondie! That'll be ten bucks! Cash or check only." His words were slurred and choppy, but harsh in tone. The clearly intoxicated man jabbed his finger in Brielle's direction before spinning on his heel, a little too swiftly because he knocked himself off balance and fell back to the ground.
