Chapter 4: February 4th

After yesterday's movie incident and a long argument about who was the better Gem, no one was sure that this day was going to be any better.

"Uh, welcome back to The Shipping Contest!" Steven waved at the Gems. Everyone has their arms crossed.

"I'm worried about what's in store for today." Lapis said.

Steven replied with a little nervous laugh.

"I'm sorry Steven, but can I leave?" Bismuth asked.

"N-no." Steven said.

"But I just don't wanna do this so badly..." Bismuth mumbled.

"Anyway we're going to Funland!" Steven exclaimed.

Amethyst made a high pitched squeal. "Yes! It's shortie squad time my dudes! Right Peri?"

"Oh yeah! Maybe I can win an even bigger prize! Especially since I don't have one anymore after Lapis-" Peridot looked to Lapis, who shrugged.

"I wanted to keep that barn. But I did what had to be done." She said simply.

"Wait FUNLAND?! You need to start telling me what we're doing sooner!" Connie gasped excitedly.

"No, dad. We don't need you to drive us today." Steven said over the phone as the group walked down the boardwalk.

"Steven? Steven! Steven!" Ruby called eagerly.

"You should've told me that before I started waiting outside the temple for 20 minutes!" Greg yelled over the phone.

"Steven! I have a question! Steeeven!"

"Sorry. I'll talk to you later dad. Bye!" Steven said and ended the call.

"STEEEEVEN!" Ruby yelled.

"What?!" Steven yelled, now annoyed from Ruby's excessive calls.

Ruby's smile faded but she quickly shook off her frown. "So did they fix that teacup ride? Y'know, the one that yo-"

"Yeah! They did...it's been years since that, Ruby." Steven replied.

"Great! So you and Connie'll join Sapphire and me on it?" Ruby asked happily.

Steven remembered the horrible incident when he literally jumped off  that ride. "No thank you!" He smiled nervously.

"Your loss." Ruby shrugged, leaving Steven and joining Sapphire's side once again.

They all entered the entrance to Funland and most of the Gem gasped at a different sight.

"Ooh, there it is! C'mon Sapph!" Ruby grabbed Sapphire's hand and they took off towards the teacup ride.

"Hey wait for us!" Lapis called.

Peridot's eyes widened. "Wha-" Lapis grabbed Peridot's arm and ran towards Ruby and Sapphire.

Steven and Connie were hanging out around one of the games, just sitting back and taking in all the scenery.

"So what are y'all up to today, kids?" Mr. Smiley asked, appearing from the shadows inside the game.
